BOULDER, Colo. – The Air Force women's tennis team, in its first of four-straight road matches, ran afoul of a veteran-laden Colorado Buffaloes team, falling 7-0 on Saturday afternoon at the Rocky Mountain Tennis Center in Boulder.
In doubles, a Colorado doubles unit combined for a 9-1 record in match play, clinched the point off wins on lines one and two over Falcon duos Nadia Kojonroj/Alexis Odom and Isabella Flodin/Arianna Van Houweling, winning both flights, 6-3.
In singles, Air Force fell in straight sets on courts one (Odom, 6-2, 6-1), two (Van Houweling, 6-3, 6-2), three (Flodin, 6-1, 6-0), five (Giovanna Sanchirico, 6-4, 6-2), and six (Joselyn Limbago, 6-1, 6-2).
Court four was a three-set battle against undefeated Kojonroj (3-0) and CU's Betina Tokac (4-0). Kojonroj took the first set, 6-3, then fell in the final two games of the second after tying at 4-4 to force a third-set tiebreak, in which Kojonroj narrowly fell, 10-8.
Coach Hollander on today's match:
"Going into this match, the objective was to stay professional and fight regardless of the score. It's easy to get down on yourself against quality opponents and play the score over the ball, but we competed from start to finish on all courts. We look forward to traveling to Florida next week."
