Women’s tennis falls 4-3 at Florida Gulf Coast

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Despite a showing on Friday afternoon that bore a doubles victory and pair of singles wins over host FGCU on Friday morning, the Air Force women's tennis team narrowly fell, 4-3 at the hands of the Eagles.

The Falcons swept doubles sets, clinching the point on lines one and three. Isabella Flodin/Arianna Van Houweling earned a 6-4 victory over 3-2 Eagle pair Ida Ferding/Fanny Norin. Freshman pair Giovanna Sanchirico/Joselyn Limbago earned a 6-4 win over Isabella Colmenares/Gabriela Macias to secure the point for Air Force and improve to 2-0. Playing though on the final court, court two pair Alexis Odom/Nadia Kojonroj earned a 7-5 victory over FGCU's Jordana Ossa/Paloma Goldsmith to improve to 3-3 as a pair.

In singles down 3-1 after losses on lines two (Odom), six (Sanchirico) and four (Flodin), Kojonroj was able to secure a 6-3, 6-4 win over Paloma Goldsmith, earning her third win in four matches and a 4-1 record – all earned in straight sets.

After falling on court five and losing the clinch to FGCU, Van Houweling on court one took Norin to a tiebreak third set, claiming the match win on a 10-7 set win to improve to 5-2 in dual singles.
