Jake Greiving managed his first three-hit game of the spring, going 3-4 with 3 RBIs. The senior singled home the first run of the game in the opening inning before breaking a 2-2 tie in the 5th with a run-scoring base-hit. The dependable bat is 5-9 (.555) so far in the series.
Charlie Jones also had three hits in five at-bats, as his three-run double in the 7th helped Air Force to a late 8-2 lead. Jones now carries a .378 batting average and .966 OPS in 11 games this season.
The Friday win marks the first-career multi-hit game for Ben Niednagel, as the sophomore was 2-4 with a walk and a run scored. Jay Thomason also picked up two hits, reaching base in four of his five plate appearances.
Christian Taylor continues to hold his own at the plate, going 1-4 with 2 RBIs. The C4C brought home a run with a base-hit in the 1st, and was responsible for another run driven in in the 7th after he was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.
Aerik Joe's infield single in the 7th rewarded him with an RBI, giving the Air Force shortstop a 1-3 day with a walk. Sam Kulasingam was 1-4 with a walk, scoring twice.
In total, Air Force stole five bases on Friday to increase its season total 47 in just 26 games. In comparison, the Falcons stole 63 bases during the entirety of the 2023 season.
After giving up a two-run home run in the 1st, Dylan Rogers was mostly on cruise control the rest of the way. Rogers held Nevada scoreless until the 8th, departing the game with a 10-3 lead. The junior induced 12 of his 23 outs via the groundout.
After 7.2 innings, Rogers moves to 4-2 on the year to lead the Falcons pitching staff in wins.
A 2-2 game entering the 5th, a two-out Thomason stolen base proved crucial, as Greiving's second RBI single of the day broke the tie, seeing Air Force lead 3-2. That same inning, Rogers stranded a leadoff double to keep his team in front.
The Falcons exploded for five runs in the 7th, as Air Force accepted what was offered. Niednagel began the inning with a leadoff single up the middle, and was moved over to second following a Chase Spencer sacrifice bunt.
Niednagel eventually moved to third with two outs before Thomason, Greiving, and Taylor were hit by a pitch in succession, leading to a run. Joe's infield single brought the lead to 5-2, though the big blow was Jones' bases-clearing double, creating an 8-2 lead.
Air Force would also add three unearned runs in the 8th and 9th to enter the final half inning with an 11-4 advantage.
In the bottom of the 9th, Kyle Moats, who picked up the final out of the 8th, struck out the side to give Air Force a much-needed win.
The Falcons will close its series against Nevada with a Saturday rubber game scheduled for 2:00 pm MT.
