The Falcons return to the Academy on a three-game win streak to host Cleveland State in ASUN action on March 31. Face off on Easter Sunday is at noon MT.
THE SERIES
Air Force leads the all-time series, 4-2. The Falcons have won two straight, both home and away. Last time they played, AF downed the Vikings, 12-9, in Cleveland. Aidan Tolen scored a hat trick, while Luke Vrsansky and Jake Knapp notched a goal apiece.
AIR FORCE NOTABLES
-Sophomore Caelan Driggs leads Air Force in goals (21) and points (25) so far this season. He has three hat tricks (4g, 4g, 5g), coming off a five-goal performance against Lindenwood. He has scored a point in every game this season and a goal in seven-of-eight appearances. He is second in the ASUN in goals per game (2.63) and shot percentage (.457).
-Junior Josh Yago leads the team in assists (14) and points (25). He is second in the league in assists per game (1.75). Yago has scored a point in every game this season and put up a goal for four-straight games.
-Freshman Turner Ashby put up his first hat trick on March 16 against Queens. He has 11 goals and has scored in all but one game season. He also has an assist in six-of-eight games this season.
-The Air Force defense is lead by co-team captains Chris Bardak and James Chastain. The duo combines for 21 caused turnovers— Bardak with 11, Chastain with 10. Bardak has 26 ground balls, the most by any non-face off player.
-At center X, Jake Knapp takes the lion's share of face off attempts. He has a .470 win-percentage on the season and a season-best 17 face off wins against Queens.
LAST TIME OUT
Air Force put on its most dominant display of lacrosse this season, outscoring Lindenwood, 15-3, in ASUN Conference action at Hunter Stadium. Driggs had a career day with five goals on six shots, notching his third hat trick performance this season.
Nine other Falcons accounted for 10 goals, testament to AF's ability to move the ball around. Junior Kyle Griffith scored two goals while Turner Ashby, Aidan Tolen, Josh Yago, Wes Peene, Cooper Rich, Cole Cunningham, Hunter Panzik, and Mana Wilhelm tallied a goal each.
Air Force doubled up Lindenwood with 42 shots on the day to tie the season-high mark, led by Driggs and Yago with six shot attempts each. The Falcons' 37 ground balls is also a season best. Air Force put 24 shots on goal for the third time this season.
