
Air Force Men’s Basketball Announces 2024 Program Awards

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force men's basketball announced its team award winners for the 2023-24 season at its end-of-the-year team get together at Top Golf in Colorado Springs. Juniors Beau Becker and Ethan Taylor shared the Bob Beckel Most Valuable Player honor.
Becker ranked second on the team in scoring, averaging 13.8 points per game. He was Top 10 in several categories in the Mountain West, ranking third in three's per game (2.4), and sixth in both field goal percentage (48.5) and total three's made (74). Becker's 74 three's ranked 10th most in a season at Air Force. He scored a career-high 31 points in a win over William & Mary, earning Air Force Classic All-Tournament honors.
Taylor also had a standout junior season, ranking third on the team in scoring, averaging 13.5 points per game. Taylor led the Mountain West in minutes per game (36.9) and three's per game (2.77) and was second in total three's (84) and three-point percentage (35.7). His 84 three's are the second-most in a season in program history. Taylor was the Air Force Classic Tournament MVP, leading the Falcons to a 3-0 record and tournament title.
Junior guard Byron Brown earned the Cliff Parsons Award for the member of the Falcon basketball team that gives his best every day, in every way. After playing in just 28 total minutes in 10 games across his freshman and sophomore seasons, Brown had a breakout junior season. He played in all 31 games and averaging 20 minutes per game. Brown was primarily a key scorer off the bench, averaging 5.1 points and 1.9 rebounds per game. Brown upped his game in conference play, averaging 5.9 points per game and 2.1 rebounds. Brown shot 56.9 percent from the field in MW play, setting a program record for highest field goal percentage in a conference season.
Junior guard Jeffrey Mills earned the Bob Spear Award for the member of the Falcon basketball team that demonstrates high achievement in basketball performance, academics and military performance. It is considered one of the highest honors a player can earn. Mills was a key cog in the Falcon starting lineup, averaging 9.1 ppg and 3.0 assists per game. Mills was a highly-efficient scorer for the Falcons, shooting 48.5 percent from the field and 38.8 percent from three-point range. Mills was even better in MW play, averaging 10 points per game and shooting 44.1 percent from three-point range. He was a highly efficient ball-handler, ranking fourth in the MW in assist/turnover ratio at 2.63.
