
Air Force announces 2024-25 hockey schedule

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – The Air Force hockey team will open the 2024-25 season with nine of the first 14 games at home as part of 19 games at Cadet Ice Arena.
Air Force opens the season at home with a two-game non-conference series against Arizona State, competing in their first season in the NCHC. Air Force will then travel to Las Vegas for the Ice Breaker Tournament as part of a field that includes three NCAA qualifiers from a year ago, UMass, Minnesota and Omaha. The Gophers defeated Omaha in the first round and reached the Elite Eight while the Minutemen lost in the first round, 2-1, to the eventual national champion Denver Pioneers. This will be the Falcons' fifth appearance in the Ice Breaker (2005, 2011, 2016, 2022). Air Force was the 2022 co-host with Denver and won the 2016 event in Denver.
After a non-conference home series with Lindenwood, Oct. 18-20, the Falcons open Atlantic Hockey America play on the road at AIC, Oct. 25-26. The Falcons closed out the 2023-24 season at home against AIC as the Yellow Jackets defeated the Falcons in the AHA Quarterfinals.
The battle for the Pikes Peak Trophy will continue, Nov. 1-2, as the Falcons and Colorado College meet for a pair of games. The Falcons play at Robson Arena, Nov. 1, and host the Tigers, Nov. 2.
Following the CC series, the Falcons play four straight home conference games (Canisius, Nov. 8-9, and Mercyhurst, Nov. 15-16), before going on the road for four straight at Bentley and at Brown. The first half of the season closes out with a home series against Niagara, Dc. 6-7.
The second half of the season begins at Sacred Heart, Jan. 3-4. In the second half, the Falcons play eight of the 14 games at home. Air Force will face Army four times in the second half of the season, at Army, Jan. 17-18, and at Cadet Ice Arena, Feb. 14-15.
All 11 Atlantic Hockey teams will make the playoffs again this season. In the opening round, the top five teams will get a bye while the No. 6, No. 7 and No. 8 seeds will host a single game against No. 11, No. 10 and No. 9 on Saturday, March 1. The AHA quarterfinals (March 7-9) and the semifinals (March 14-16) will all be best-of-three series at the site of the higher-seeded team. The AHA championship game will be a single game on Saturday, March 22, at the site of the highest remaining seed.
