Sophomore Jayda McNabb, while also averaging 7.7 points per game, leads Air Force in rebounding, averaging 7.6 (4.2 OFF/G, 3.4 DEF/G), the fifth-highest mark in the Mountain West. McNabb's 4.2 offensive rebounds per game currently ranks 17th nationally and leads Mountain West competitors, while only being one of only two players in the country shorter than 6'0" averaging as many offensive boards per game.
Senior point guard Jo Huntimer's 3.9 assists per game and 2.50 assist/turnover ratio both rank second in the Mountain West.
Defensively, the Falcons top the Mountain West in turnovers forced per game (22.79, 15th nationally), turnover margin (+7.42, 16th nationally) and steals per game (12.2, 17th nationally). Madison Smith, sporting 49 steals on the season, leads the Mountain West. Three of Air Force's starting five (Smith, Huntimer, McNabb) rank top eight in steals against the Mountain West; No other program has more than one.
A Historic Start:
Air Force opened Mountain West play in 2024-25 at 10-2, marking its first ever 10-win non-conference in Air Force's Division I history and the first such occurrence since the 1991-92 season. Starting 9-1 on the year with just an overtime loss at Army (Nov. 15), Air Force got off to its best ten-game start since Maj. Danny Fowler's 1982-83 Falcons went 12-1. The Falcons opened 6-0 in Clune Arena for the first time since 1985-86, when Air Force started at home with seven-straight wins.
A Cool Grand:
Combining for 53 points at San Jose State (Jan. 11), Smith and Perry both eclipsed the 1,000-point mark for their respective careers, becoming the 19th and 20th players to do so in Air Force history, and the fourth-such duo to collectively claim the honor in the same season.
Service Before Self:
Jo Huntimer leads Air Force in total assists (75), while currently sporting the second-best assist average in the Mountain West (3.9). 346 career assists currently ranks second in Air Force DI history and sixth all-time (Briana Autrey-Thompson, 2018-22) - a spot in the record books secured in the Falcons' win over Milwaukee on Nov. 28 in Puerto Rico.
Winning Trends:
In all 11 of the Falcons' wins this season, Air Force has:
- Held opponents to less than 70 points (15 consecutive wins);
- Forced more turnovers than opponents (16 consecutive wins);
- Scored more points off of turnovers than opponents;
- Led in the game with five minutes to go (58 consecutive wins in regulation).
Air Force is Undefeated When...
- Out-rebounding opponents (4-0);
- Leading home opponents at halftime (6-0);
- Scoring 70 or more in Clune (5-0);
Out-shooting home opponents from the field (4-0) and from three-point range (5-0).
Last Time Out:
Air Force Women's Basketball found its footing late in Wednesday night's contest against Wyoming but were unable to flip the script from the previous three quarters, as Air Force fell, 62-50, to the Cowgirls in Clune Arena.
Junior Milahnie Perry led Falcon scoring, putting up 16 (7-11 FG, 2-2 3FG, 2 REB, 1 AST) points; Sophomore Jayda McNabb followed up, logging 10 (4-10 FG, 2-2 FT, 2 REB, 3 AST, 2 BLK, 1 STL).
The Falcons struck first on Wednesday to earn an early lead and both teams traded baskets in an early shootout, but Air Force and Wyoming settled in defensively after the first under-five media timeout, leaving it a one-possession game through the end of the opening quarter.
In the second, the Falcons' continued to struggle finishing shots, opening the quarter 0-6 from the field. Wyoming took advantage, going on an 8-2 run, halted by a Perry three-pointer along the right wing. Sophomore Jordyn Devaughn scored on back-to-back possessions to end the half, but the Cowgirls bookended the half with another 7-2 scoring stretch, leaving the Falcons down 28-19 at halftime.
After half, Perry struck early, getting a quick four points on consecutive possessions and a tough three-pointer from senior Jo Huntimer got the Falcon offense moving early on, but Wyoming matched Air Force on each basket before outscoring the Falcons 16-2 from the 7:39 mark through the remainder of the third quarter, leaving Air Force with a 48-28 deficit to cover with ten minutes to go.
Air Force finally hit its stride in the fourth quarter, shooting 9-14 and 4-5 from three-point range to outscore Wyoming 22-14. The early minutes of the quarter saw Air Force put up an 11-2 run, as Falcon starters made a late push, but back-to-back Wyoming threes from Mckinley Dickerson and Madi Symons effectively curbed the Falcons' chances at a comeback. Down the final three minutes of the game, sophomore Keelie O'Hollaren put up a pair of threes and found a backdoor layup for a fast eight points, fueling an 11-0 run to close out, ultimately leaving Air Force down 62-50 at the final buzzer.
