
Women’s Basketball Falls at South Dakota

VERMILLION, S.D. – On Friday, Air Force Women's Basketball held within single digits for three quarters on the road at South Dakota, but saw their chance at a win slip away in the final 10 minutes on Friday afternoon in Vermillion.
Making her season debut, senior Preseason All-Mountain West selection Milahnie Perry led Air Force scoring with 13 points; Freshman Bhret Clay followed up scoring nine.
Out of the first quarter, Air Force trailed 19-10. Clay's six points to start kept Air Force within a single possession of South Dakota early, but the Coyotes worked up a 9-0 run to close out the quarter.
In the second, the Falcon defense bolted down, forcing the Coyotes into seven turnovers while allowing Air Force to tie the game at 26-26; A 3-4 showing from three-point range for South Dakota kept the Falcons away from their first lead of the game. In the final two and a half minutes of the quarter, the Yotes outpaced Air Force 8-4 on the scoreboard, leaving the Falcons with a 34-28 deficit at the half.
In the early minutes of the third quarter, Air Force cut South Dakota's lead to four on a 6-2 scoring advantage but found themselves down 49-41 entering the final 10 minutes of the game.
The Coyotes put away Air Force in the final 10 minutes, outscoring the Falcons 26-9 to end the day with a 75-50 win over the Falcons.
Air Force led South Dakota in points off turnovers (19) and free throws made (10), while finishing even in turnover margin and offensive rebounding (12).
