MW Gymnasts of the Week:
Following a program-defining victory last weekend against Utah State, a trio of Air Force women's gymnasts were named to the weekly Mountain West honors list, the conference announced on Tuesday.
Sophomore Maggie Slife, the reigning Mountain West Freshman of the Year and three-time, undisputed conference Gymnast of the Week in 2025, was named to the award for the fourth-consecutive week.
Slife was additionally named as Vault Specialist of the Week by the Mountain West; Air Force continues to showcase its progress on vault this season, as the Falcons scored a 49.075 on Jan. 31, resetting the all-time high score while notching just its second-ever 49-or-better finish. Slife's vault specialist honor marks the program's third in four weeks.
Freshman pair Alyssa Bigler and Anna Bacott were both named MW Co-Freshmen of the Week after both landing a 9.875 on vault and balance beam, respectively.
The awards represent Slife's ninth Gymnast of the Week honor of her career and her fourth consecutive this season (the only MW gymnast to earn the award so far); Bigler earns her fourth weekly superlative and third vault specialist award; Bacott earns the first conference honor of her career.
A New Benchmark:
Constant effort and fine-tuning in Cadet West Gym for the Air Force Women's Gymnastics team reached its zenith on Jan. 31, as the Falcons breached the program all-around record, scoring a 195.775 to defeat Mountain West opponent San Jose State and Division III guest Hamline University.
Last Time Out:
Closing on a hectic weekend for the Air Force Women's Gymnastics team, the Falcons, after a historic victory on Friday evening at home, fell on the road in a narrow, 194.075-194.025 loss at Texas Woman's University on Sunday afternoon at Kitty McGee Arena in Denton, Texas.
Sophomore Maggie Slife, closing Sunday as the only all-arounder in the competition, scored a 39.200 – just shy of a top-ten all-time program finish. Slife closed the afternoon in Denton with two first-place finishes and a share of second in another.
Starting the day on uneven bars, it was newcomer Allie Misenheimer and Slife who led the way, both landing a 9.825 on the way to earning a share of the podium. Misenheimer's strong showing on bars marks a career best and the Falcons' third-best score in the event this season.
Moving over to vault, the Falcons scored a 48.275 to just trail TWU after the first pair of events. Slife and sophomore Olivia Raife topped the Falcon scoresheet; Slife stuck her landing on the way to a 9.850 to claim sole possession of first and the high score of the day; Raife finished with a share of fifth place, scoring a 9.700.
On floor, Air Force gained ground and overtook TWU, scoring a 48.800 to lead 145.625-145.000 headed into the final rotation. Slife, 9.850 was good for second place; Juniors Velandra Brochi and Sarah Willis closed in sixth, both scoring a 9.750.
With a win on the line on balance beam, Air Force came up just short, finishing with a 48.400. Brochi and freshman Anna Bacott topped Falcon scores in the event, both landing a 9.700 and a fourth-place finish.
