Texas Tanner Takes Down Another Air Force Record
3/29/2025 7:46:00 PM | Track and Field
AUSTIN, Texas – Junior Texas Tanner took down another Air Force Record this afternoon (March 29), as he reset the program's two-year-old standard in the discus throw during the final day of competition at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin.
Tanner launched the record-setting throw on his second attempt of the outdoor season, when he sent the disc out to the 59.59-meter (195'6") mark. With that throw, which was third out of 15 athletes in the "A" section of the Texas Relays, Tanner added nearly a foot to the Air Force – and Service Academy – Record that former Falcon Hayden Bullock had held since 2023. The mark also added nearly 12 feet to the program's Junior Class Record – a mark that had remained unchanged since 1993 (Shawn Larcher).
The discus wasn't the only outdoor-opening event for Tanner on Saturday, as the junior also competed in the shot put, registering a distance of 18.29 meters (60'0¼") – a mark not too far off his personal best, which is second all-time at Air Force – to finish sixth in the "A" section
Two other Falcons also competed at Mike A Myers Stadium on Saturday. Freshman Morgan Glaser moved up to No. 12 on the program's all-time high jump standings after recording a personal-best clearance of 1.68 meters (5'6"), while senior Javin Bostic recorded a season-opening time of 21.13 in the Invitational section of the 200-meter dash.
The Falcons return to action with three meets next weekend (April 4-5). The distance runners will open their outdoor season at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic and Stanford Invitational in California, while the rest of the team will head to Boulder for the Colorado Invitational.
