Air Force Takes the Fight to Navy for Tuesday Evening Matchup

THE SERIES
The last time AF met with Navy (8/31/18), the Falcons downed the Midshipmen, 2-0, in Annapolis. Air Force holds the advantage in the all-time series, 5-3-3, and are 2-1-1 in games played after 2000.
A LOOK AT THE MIDSHIPMEN
Navy will take the pitch under the command of head coach Tim O'Donohue in his 10th season as the head coach of Navy's men's soccer program. O'Donohue currently has the 116th-highest all-time NCAA winning percentage across all divisions at .688 (222-87-51). On the list of NCAA all-time winningest head coaches, O'Donohue's winning percentage is 14th-best among active NCAA Division I head coaches and 51st overall across all divisions.
Andrew Schug leads Navy in scoring with three goals to his credit while teammate Duncan Sullivan has a pair of strikes. The Midshipmen average less than a goal per game (0.89). In goal, Robert Eaton has most minutes logged. He's made 30 saves (.857 sv%) and has a 0.74 GAA.
LAST TIME OUT
Air Force was shut out by Penn, 2-0, Saturday evening at Rhodes Field. The Quakers (2-2-2) tallied both strikes in the first half as Oliver Pratt struck in the 18th minute via help from Jack-Ryan Jeremiah and Patrick Cayelli. In the 43rd minute, Gavin Seele assisted Erickson Sakalosky.
Air Force had quality attempts at in 12' and 27' behind AF goals leader Attila Toth and Sean Odle, respectively. Penn controlled the possessions in the first half, taking nine shots, five on target. The Quakers continued to pour in on in the second half, attempting 10 shots with another five coming on frame. Ben Brophy (50') and Maximilian Perez (57') put up Air Force's only shots on goal in the second half.
At the final horn, Penn took 19 shots to the Falcons' seven. Sophomore keeper Brody Smith made seven saves on the match while his counterpart, Phillip Falcon III, earned the shutout with four saves.
NEXT UP
Air Force will have a bye weekend before opening Western Athletic Conference play against San Diego State, October 4, at Cadet Soccer Stadium. Action is slated to kick off at 7pm MT.
AIR FORCE YOUNG GUNS
The Falcons returned just one starter from last season in sophomore defender Menes Ajyeman, and just eight players who saw action during their freshmen season. The Falcons welcomed 17 newcomers to the squad with 13 of them being freshmen and the remaining four sophomores. The Falcons brought on five walk-ons from preseason training in Braedon Gehring (Fr.), Marcos Goni (So.), Joshua Staus (Fr.), Joe Bennett (So.), and Luke Dustin (So.).
