
Air Force Downed At Boise State

BOISE, Idaho - Air Force men's basketball (3-17, 0-9 MW) fell to Boise State (12-8, 4-5 MW), 96-54, in Mountain West action Saturday afternoon at ExtraMile Arena. Freshman guard Kam Sanders led the Falcons with 10 points.
Boise State shot 57 percent from the field and knocked down 12 three's. The Broncos also dominated inside, out-scoring the Falcons 40-20 in points in the paint and 18-8 in free throws made.
Boise State led 48-29 at the half, powered by free throw shooting and seven made three's. The Broncos got to the line 16 times, making 13. Air Force shot 41 percent from the field in the first half, while Boise State shot 54.
The Falcons continued to struggle in the second half, shooting 43 percent. Boise State put the game out of reach with an 18-0 run midway through the second half.
Sanders hit a pair of three's and also tied for the team-lead with four rebounds. Sophomore Eli Robinson added eight points and Lucas Hobin and Wesley Celichowski scored seven points each.
Freshman Riley Dering came off the bench to score seven points, which included a thunderous alley-oop jam for his first-career bucket. Junior forward Josh Gatete also scored his first-career bucket on a made three.
Drew Fielder led Boise State with 20 points on 8-of-9 shooting from the field. Spencer Ahrens added 18 points off the bench, going 4-for-6 from three.
Air Force made eight three's on the night. In addition the Gatete's long-range bucket, AJ Patterson and Elliott Taite also made their first-career three's.
Air Force returns to action Saturday, Jan. 31, hosting Fresno State. Tip time is 1 pm MT from Clune Arena. The game will be streamed on the MW Network.
