Air Force Downs Mavs in 307.050-278.950 Victory

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. -- The 11th-ranked Air Force men's gymnastics team earned a wire-to-wire win over the Rocky Mountain Mavericks on Saturday (Feb. 28) night in the Academy's Cadet West Gym, claiming the top collegiate finish on all six events during a 307.050-278.950 win on Senior Day.
Sophomore Jack Thomas Foltyn shared the top score on a pair of events, tying with classmate Jared Fry on the vault and senior Palmer Wright on the parallel bars behind matching scores of 13.350 on both events. The Gopaul brothers completed a top-three sweep for the Falcons on those events, as (freshman) Devin scored a 13.300 to place third on the vault and (senior) Tai used that same score to finish third on the parallel bars.
The elder Gopaul was the meet's top finisher on the high bar and added a third-place score on the floor exercise behind a pair of 13.200 marks, while also finishing second on the still rings with a tally of 12.450.
Freshman Isaac Koo, who finished second to Gopaul on the high bar (12.950). was the night's top scorer on the floor exercise with a 13.450, while sophomore Ryan Jacobson rounded out the Falcons' list of first-place finishers after winning the still rings with a 12.500. The senior duo of Sam Brown and Jack Matlock were the top-two collegiate finishers on the pommel horse, finishing second (14.650) and third (13.450), respectively, to former Air Force standout and current assistant coach 2Lt Patrick Hoopes.
Air Force closes out the regular season on Saturday, March 14, when it travels to California to face off with their conference counterparts from Stanford and California, as well as a pair of international squads (Team Quebec, Team France).
