NCAA Championships on Deck for Texas Tanner

The indoor season concludes this weekend, as senior thrower Texas Tanner heads to Fayetteville, Ark., to represent Air Force at the 2026 NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships. Tanner, advancing to the national meet in both throwing events for the second-straight year, will compete in the weight throw on Friday, March 13, and the shot put on Saturday, March 14.

MEET INFORMATION
The NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships will take place at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Ark., over the March 13-14 weekend. The weight throw final will take place at 4:00 p.m. [CT] on Friday, while the shot put is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. start on Saturday. All session tickets begin at $40 and can be purchased at ArkansasRazorbacks.com. The meet will be broadcast live on the ESPN Family of Networks and on the ESPN App, while real-time results will be available through FlashResults.com.

Texas Tanner is the only service academy athlete to qualify to the NCAA Indoor Championships.
HISTORY 101
The Falcons have combined for 40 All-America accolades at the NCAA Division I Indoor Championships. With his third 800-meter award in 2020, Michael Rhoads became the program's most decorated individual at the indoor championships, while Justin Tyner, the top American finisher in the 5000-meter run at the 2010 championship meet, also collected three indoor honors during his career – two individual awards and one as a member of the distance medley relay in 2011. The women also accounted for 23 All-America awards at the NCAA Division II level, with Callie Calhoun [3000-meter run] and Jill Wood [1500-meter run] claiming national titles.
MEN CLOSE OUT SEASON RANKED IN THE TOP 35
Finishing the season at No. 34 in the NCAA, the men were listed among the nation's top 35 in every USTFCCA Rating Checkpoint of the indoor season. Backed by a No. 27 ranking in Week 1 – the program's highest placement since the end of the 2016 season, the 2026 men marked the first time that Air Force has been listed in the top 40 for an entire season,
AIR FORCE IN THE NATIONAL RANKINGS
Texas Tanner is ranked among the nation's top 10 in both the weight throw and shot put. His 24.18-meter distance in the weight throw is No. 2 in the NCAA this season, while his 19.83-meter throw in the shot put is No. 9. Backed by a pair of 1.84-meter clearances at the conference championships, Morgan Glaser finished the regular season ranked 20th in the high jump.
SQUAD GOALS
The Falcons have four event groups with Top 20 rankings in the final indoor installment of the USTFCCCA #EventSquad Rankings – which are determined by the cumulative season-best marks from a team's top-four athletes in the national descending order list. The men hold top 20 marks in the 5000-meter run [No. 12, 54:55.22], weight throw [No. 13, 77.34 meters], shot put [No. 14, 68.33m], pole vault [No. 17, 20.22m].
WHAT'S ON DECK
With the indoor season coming to a close at the NCAA Championships, the Falcons will turn their attention to the outdoor season, which begins next weekend [March 20-21] at the Dr. Dan Caprioglio Invitational in Pueblo.
