Falcons Conclude Opening Day at USAG Collegiate Nationals

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. -- Senior Tai Gopaul and freshman Isaac Koo accounted for multiple top-10 finishes this afternoon (March 20), as the 12th-ranked Air Force men's gymnastics team wrapped up the opening day of competition at the USAG Collegiate Nationals inside Cadet West Gym.
Gopaul and Koo led the Falcons with top 10 finishes in three events during today's team final and event qualifier, with both placing among the top seven on the floor exercise. Gopaul. whose best finish of the day came on the high bar, where he placed third out of 30 gymnasts behind a score of 13.100, tied for fifth on the floor exercise (13.1300) and seventh on the still rings (career-best 13.150). Koo posted career-best scores on the vault (13.750, eighth tie) and parallel bars (13.200, sixth), while tying for seventh on the floor exercise behind a 13.250 finish.
The senior duo of Jack Matlock and Sam Brown finished second (season-best 13.950) and sixth (13.450) on the pommel horse, while sophomores Jack Thomas Foltyn and Ryan Jacobsen helped Air Force to three of top-10 finishes on the still rings. Foltyn tied with Gopaul for seventh with a matching 13.150, while Jacobsen scored a career-high 13.100 to finish 10th in the 30-gymnast field.
Army West Point, ranked 13th in the latest NCAA standings, easily captured their first-ever team title at the USAG Collegiate Nationals – scoring a 313.050 to claim the win and lead No. 10 Greenville (311.850) and No. 9 Navy (310.750) to the top three spots on the podium. No. 11 Springfield finished just behind the Midshipmen with a 310.350, while 14th-ranked William and Mary rounded out the top five with a tally of 308.550. The 12th-ranked Falcons finished sixth with a 306.750, while No. 15 Simpson completed the field with a seventh-place score of 302.400. The all-around final was also decided today, with Navy's Jonah Soltz winning the 2026 USAG Collegiate title with a 78.550.
The top finishers from today's event qualifier will return to Cadet West Gym tomorrow (March 21) for the individual finals of the USAG Collegiate Nationals. Lineups are currently being determined, but competition is slated to begin at 12:00 p.m. (MT) and streamed live on the Mountain West Network.
