SOPHOMORE YEAR | 2024: Competed on the pommel horse in 11 meets…advanced to the finals of the NCAA Championships for the second-straight year…recorded a career-best score of 14.450 to finish second at the All-Academy Championships, helping the Falcons to a sweep of the top three spots on that event…surpassed the 14-point plateau in five of the final six meets…tallied a 14.066 to finish 12th at the NCAA Championships…added a 14.266 in the national qualifier (11th)…earned a silver medal (14.100) in the event finals of the USAG Collegiate Nationals…recorded that same placement during team finals (14.350) to help the Falcons to its first USAG title in four championships…placed eighth at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships (14.250)…led team in a dual meet with Stanford (14.050, fourth).
FRESHMAN YEAR | 2023: Competed on the pommel horse in nine meets, including the finals of the NCAA Championships…scored a career-best 13.900 to finish third at the All-Academy Championships…helped the Falcons to a 1-2-3 sweep on the pommel horse at that meet…placed 12th at the NCAA Championships (13.566)…finished seventh at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (13.400)…added a 13.700 finish to lead the Falcons in a triangular meet with Oklahoma and Illinois (fifth).
BEFORE USAFA: Graduated from Byron Nelson High School…competed at the club level for Southlake Gymnastics Academy (Southlake, Texas)…coached by Mark Seyler…finished second on the pommel horse at 2022 Junior Development National Championships…also placed sixth on the high bar and seventh on both the floor exercise and all-around at that meet…earned a bronze medal on the pommel horse at the 2021 national meet…also finished within the top 10 on the high bar (seventh) that year…served as team captain from 2018-21.
PERSONAL: Full name is Samuel Cole Brown…goes by Sam…son of Brian and Marilyn Brown…is an only child…majoring in biology…future plans include becoming a pilot or genetic engineer…named to the Dean’s List and Athletic Director’s List…currently serving on A3 staff…hobbies include golfing, pickleball, kayaking, hiking, and spending time with friends…has vititigo…both grandfathers served in the Air Force…traveled to Robins AFB, Ga., over the summer for Operation Air Force…also served as an NCO for Guts Echo during Basic Cadet Training…favorite event is the pommel horse…member of Cadet Squadron 09.
