JUNIOR YEAR | 2023-24: Claimed all-conference honors in the 5000-meter run following a third-place finish at the Mountain West Outdoor Championships (16:15.30)…clocked the fourth-fastest time in Air Force history during a 16:10.60 performance in the invitational section of the Drake Relays…used a (then) best time of 16:25.80 for a top-10 finish at the Bryan Clay Invitational…finished second out of 157 runners at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic…recorded an indoor-best time of 16:47.25 (adjusted for altitude) at the MW Indoor Championships…that is the 11th-fastest time in program history…competed in the mile once, posting a time of 5:02.37a to finish second at the Air Force Last Chance…also ran the third leg of the 4x1600-meter relay that clocked the third-fastest time in Air Force history (19:45.96) during a third-place performance at the Drake Relays…received the team’s Most Improved Award…academic all-conference.
SOPHOMORE YEAR | 2022-23: Clocked career-best marks in the 5000-meter and 10,000-meter events to improve placement on the Academy’s outdoor Top 10…the ninth-fastest 5000-meter time in program history (16:31.65) to finish 10th at the Stanford Invitational…posted a 10,000-meter time of 35:23.86 at the Bryan Clay Invitational…deleted more than 27 seconds from previous-best 10K time to improve No. 10 standing on the Academy rankings at that meet…moved into the program’s top-12 for the two longest distances of the indoor season during career-best performances at the Mountain West Indoor Championships…clocked altitude-adjusted times of 9:39.74a in the 3000-meter run (No. 11 all-time) and a 16:55.16a in the 5000-meter run (No. 12 all-time)…opened the season with a runner-up finish in the mile (career-best 5:13.10a) at the Ralph Lindeman Invitational…academic all-conference selection.
FRESHMAN YEAR | 2021-22: Clocked Air Force Top 10 marks in two events during the outdoor season…clocked the ninth-fastest 5000-meter time in program history (16:33.72) to place 12th in the Elite section of the Bryan Clay Invitational…first debuted on the program’s all-time standings after finishing fourth out of 103 runners at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic (16:54.36)…recorded the Academy’s 10th-fastest time in the 10,000-meter run (35:51.42) during event debut at the Mountain West Outdoor Championships…anchored a pair of relays that impacted the program’s all-time standings at the Drake Relays…ran the final leg of the 4x1600-meter relay that posted the third-fastest time in Academy history (19:47.50) to finish fifth and anchored the distance medley relay that accounted for the program’s 10th-fastest time with an 11:54.02 performance…raced once during the indoor season, debuting at No. 22 on the program’s all-time standings in the 3000-meter run following a 9:52.96 (adjusted for altitude) performance at the MW Indoor Championships…academic all-conference selection…MW Scholar-Athlete.
MAJOR CROSS COUNTRY HIGHLIGHTS: Earned all-region accolades as a senior…two-time second-team all-conference honoree…finished ninth as a junior at the Mountain West Championships…recorded that same placement as a senior.
HIGH SCHOOL: Hockinson High School…finished third at the Washington 2A Cross Country Championships as a junior…also placed within the top 10 of the state meet as a sophomore (eighth)…also earned an eighth-place finish in the 3200-meter run (2019) and a top-12 finish in the 1600-meter run (11th, 2018) at the state’s 2A track and field championships…graduated high school with a weighted 4.0 GPA…member of two WIAA Cross Country Academic State Champion teams (2018, 2019).
PERSONAL: Full name is Allyson Leigh Peterson…goes by Ally…daughter of Lance and Melissa Peterson…has two older brothers – Kyle, who ran cross country and track at the University of Montana, and Tyler, who ran cross country for Clark Community College…also has one younger sister…hobbies include reading, baking and telling dad jokes…favorite upper body exercise is pull-ups…grandfather served in the Air Force during Vietnam…has an uncle that was a 1991 Academy graduate and served as a pilot for 21 years…member of Cadet Squadron 16.
