Two School Records Headline Falcons' Day at UCLA Legends Meet

LOS ANGELES – Air Force Records from sophomores Morgan Glaser and Ryan McFadden headlined an impressive day of action for the track and field team, as the squad wrapped up their spring break training trip at the Jim Bush Legends Meet in Los Angeles on Saturday, March 28. In addition to the two records, the women made seven improvements to the program's all-time Top 10.
Glaser became just the second Falcon to clear the six-foot high jump bar outdoors, as she recorded a leap of 6'1½" (1.87 meters) to equal the Air Force Record that Shelley Spires had held since 2017. That mark, which matched the best clearance of the day and placed second on attempts, broke the Air Force Sophomore Class Record that she set during the indoor season, tied the Service Academy Record and matched the second-best high jump mark in Mountain West history.
McFadden picked up her second Air Force Record of the year in the short sprints, as she cruised to a record-setting time of 12.06 in the 100-meter dash. The sophomore, who set the program's 60-meter mark during the indoor season, deleted 0.03 seconds off a program standard that Genelle Chapman had held since 2005 and 0.15 seconds off the Class Record that had remained unchanged since 2013.
In addition to the two Air Force Records, juniors Kayla Beach and Allison Fernstrom recorded the program's second-best marks in their respective events. Beach recorded a career-best 5.84-meter (18'2") leap to improve her No. 2 all-time distance in the long jump and finish seventh in the 40-jumper event, while Fernstrom became the second Falcon to run a sub-61 in the 400-meter hurdles – vaulting up to No. 2 all-time behind a 60.32 finish that was sixth in the overall field.
Prior to her record-setting 100-meter sprint down the straightaway, McFadden anchored her 4x100-meter teammates (junior Brooke Coleman, sophomore Alese Banks, freshman Eleanor Borchard) to the sixth-fastest relay in Air Force history at 47.63. Borchard also debuted at No. 25 on the program's all-time standings in the 100-meter hurdles (15.13), while sophomore Sarah Reynolds had a stellar outing at Drake Stadium that included Air Force all-time marks in the 100-meter hurdles (14.63, No. 10), 200-meter dash (25.25, No. 10) and long jump (5.39m/17'8¼", No. 18).
On the men's side, freshman Max McFarlane moved up to No. 12 on the program's all-time pole vault standings, as he cleared an outdoor-best 5.25 meters (17'2¾") to win the 17-athlete event. Three teammates made their debut in the Air Force Record Book this afternoon, with sophomore Trevin Jordan recording a distance of 16.30 meters (53'4¼") to enter the program's shot put standings at No. 21 and a pair of freshmen impacting the two 400-meter races. Colton Manock captured a top-10 finish in the hurdles after posting the 23rd-fastest time in Academy history (53.25), while Zachary DeWalt ran a flat 47.75 around the oval to finish 13th out of 52 runner and enter the all-time standings at No. 25.
McFarlane was one of two Falcons to collect first-place finishes at UCLA, as Texas Tanner used Air Force Senior Class Records to easily sweep the hammer and discus titles in his outdoor debut. Tanner used a throw of 72.26 meters (237'1") to better the 32-man hammer field by more than 10 meters in that winning performance, while posting a 62.07-meter (203'7") distance in the discus to win that event by nearly six meters.
Tanner led Air Force to a trio of top 10 finishes in the 31-thrower discus field, as sophomore Evan Keefe placed fourth with a toss of 55.05 meters (180'7") and senior Massimo Grisotto recorded a distance of 50.19 meters (164'8") to finish 10th.
Fellow senior Jettason Rose captured a pair of top-10 placements on Saturday, as he finished fifth out of 54 runners in the 200-meter dash (21.03) and sixth out of 49 sprinters in the 100-meter dash (10.54). Sophomore Asher Jenkins finished right on Rose's heels in the 100-meter race, with a seventh-place time of 10.55, while junior Ryan Hajek joined Manock in the top 10 of the 400-meter hurdles with an eighth-place time of 53.17.
Back in the field, the freshmen duo of Cameron Downing and Cadee Alder picked up fourth-place finishes in their respective javelin events (56.22m/184'5" for Downing, 45.62m/148'8" for Alder), while junior Paige Birch added a top-10 distance of 50.83 meters (164'2") in the hammer throw (eighth). Junior Karli Neff and freshman Julie Segroves placed eighth and 10th, respectively, in the women's pole vault behind matching clearances of 3.83 meters (12'6¾"), while sophomore James Vogel Jr. (4.98m/16'4", eighth) and freshman Max Austin (4.83m, 15'10") joined McFarlane in the top 10 of the men's event.
The Falcons will split for a pair of meets next weekend (April 3-4). Most of the team will head to Boulder for the Jerry Quiller Classic, while members of the distance squad will travel to California for the Stanford Invitational.
