FRESHMAN YEAR | 2023-24: Earned the program’s Newcomer of the Year award…debuted on the program’s all-time standings in both the heptathlon and decathlon…recorded the 17th-highest heptathlon total in Air Force history during a sixth-place finish at the Mountain West Indoor Championships (4842)…first entered the record book with a 4837-point performance in collegiate debut at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic…tallied a career-best 6419 points at the Bryan Clay Invitational to debut at No. 22 on the Academy’s decathlon standings…recorded personal-best marks in the long jump, shot put, 400-meter dash, javelin throw and 1500-meter run at that meet…scored for the Falcons in three events at the MW Outdoor Championships, finishing fifth in the pole vault (15’5¾”), sixth in the decathlon (6325), and eighth in the high jump (6’4¾’).
HIGH SCHOOL: West Lafayette Junior-Senior High School…claimed the regional title in the pole vault as a junior and senior…set the school record with a career-best clearance of 15’9¼”…also holds the Hoosier Conference Meet Record…two-time MVP…state medalist as a junior…competed in the pole vault and as a member of the 4x400-meter relay as a senior…team captain…also played football and basketball…earned all-area and all-conference honors in football…served as captain for both teams…competed at Semi-State while a football captain…named MVP of the basketball team as a junior…invited to the National Honor Society…graduated Cum Laude.
PERSONAL: Full name is Wyatt Thomas Curl…nickname is “Splicky”…son of David and Sarah Curl…father is a lieutenant colonel in the Air Force…has one older brother, who ran middle distance on the track and field team at Cornell…also has two younger brothers…majoring in management…earning a minor in Spanish…future plans include becoming a pilot…named to the Athletic Director’s List…currently serving as a squadron supervisor…lived in Alaska, Japan, Washington and Indiana, before moving to Colorado…hobbies include playing basketball with friends, exploring nature, and watching movies…grandfather and great-grandfather both served in the military…completed the Powered Flight program over the summer, recording six hours of flying time…also took part in Combat Survival Training…member of Cadet Squadron 30.
