Air Force Falls Short At Burnsley Invitational

DENVER- The Air Force women's gymnastics team came up short against top-ranked and defending national champion Alabama and No. 15 Denver Pioneers in the Burnsley Invitational Saturday evening at Hamilton Gymnasium. Alabama finished first with a team total 196.875, followed by Denver (196.125) and Air Force (188.650). The Falcons fell to 1-2 on the season while Alabama improved to 6-5 and Denver fell to 4-3. Air Force returns to action Friday, Feb. 14, when the team takes on San Jose State and Seattle Pacific in San Jose, CA.
Sophomore Jessa Liegl posted the highest individual score of the meet for the Falcons. Liegl finished sixth in the all-around with a 38.275, followed by junior Laura Frank (38.225), senior Allison Todd (38.100), junior Becky Lewis (36.875), and freshman Lauren Robison (36.225).
On floor, seniors Meagan McCowan and Todd scored a 9.550 and a 9.525 respectively, followed by Liegl with a 9.500. Frank finished with a 9.775 on balance beam and Liegl scored a 9.600 on bars. Todd finished with a 9.650 on vault, followed by Frank (9.600), Liegl (9.525), and Lewis with a 9.450.
