LINCOLN, Neb. - The Air Force men's gymnastics team fell to a pair of top-eight teams on Friday, March 12, in Lincoln, Neb. The Falcons posted a team total of 203.125, to finish behind second-ranked Oklahoma (219.200) and No. 8 Nebraska (218.525) at the Dempsey Indoor Track Building - where the meet had been moved due to scheduling conflicts.
Greg Stine (Houston, Texas) recorded the highest all-around score of the season (54.975) to finish second in the combined events. That tops his previous team-leading score of 53.475 and was the best finish of the night by the Blue and Silver.
Contributing to Stine's score was a fourth-place finish on the floor exercise of 9.200. He also led the team on the still rings with a 9.325 to finish fifth, tallied a 8.700 on the parallel bars to place sixth and registered a 9.300 on the vault to finish seventh. Stine's 9.300 on the vault is the highest score by any Falcon this season.
Senior Jeff Andersen (Marietta, Ga.) garnered three top-10 finishes, including a fifth-place mark in the all-around. Andersen topped the team on the pommel horse with a seventh-place score of 8.900. He also scored a 8.450 on the high bar to finish 10th.
Ryan Stromstad (Corona, Calif.) was the Falcon's only other top-10 finisher, as he placed ninth on the floor exercise with a score of 8.800.
The Falcons are off until next weekend (March 19-20), when they travel to Palo Alto, Calif., to take on conference foes in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation championships.
