Falcons Finish Fourth at Maryland

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Air Force women's gymnastics team finished fourth tonight (March 12) at a quadrangular meet in College Park, Maryland. The Falcons, in the midst of competing in four meets in eight days, posted a team total of 192.800. They finished behind NC State (197.125), Pittsburgh (195.700) and host-team Maryland (195.350).
Junior Jessa Liegl (Lincoln, Neb.) led the team with a third-place tie on the vault - scoring a 9.875. Senior Erin Maguire (Pocatello, Idaho) finished tied for ninth with a 9.800. Liegl matched the second-best score of the season - and just .025 shy of the school record - as the Falcons finished third on that event with a team score of 48.650.
Liegl also registered the highest finish of the night on the parallel bars (13th) with a score of 9.750. She tied with Maguire for the highest mark on the floor exercise, as both recorded scores of 9.850 to tie for sixth.
Senior Laura Frank (Midland, Pa.) tied for seventh on the balance beam with a team-best 9.825. Maguire also recorded a top-10 finish, as she placed ninth with a 9.600.
Sophomore Lauren Robison (Garner, N.C.) finished fourth in the all-around with a team score of 38.650, while Liegl was right behind in fifth with a score of 38.550.
The Falcons will tour Washington D.C. tomorrow, before taking on George Washington on Sunday, March 14, at 1 p.m.
