Air Force Takes Third at Chicago

CHICAGO, Ill. -- The Air Force men's gymnastics team finished third at a tri-meet with Illinois-Chicago and Arizona State on Friday, March 18, in Chicago. The host Flames won the three-team meet with a score of 211.375, while the Sun Devils (197.450) and Falcons (194.500) took second and third.
As a team, the Falcons had the second-best scores on the vault, parallel bars and high bar.
Freshman Nathan Glandon (Abilene, Texas) led the Falcons on the floor, tying for fourth with a score of 8.800, while classmate Tyler Sickles (Mesa, Ariz.) also received top-10 honors with an 8.600 to tie for seventh. Fellow first-year gymnast Brian Boardman (Naperville, Ill.) tied for sixth on the pommel horse with an 8.050 to lead the squad.
Sophomore Kurt Antonio (Rio Rancho, N.M.) posted a 7.800 on the still rings -- the team's best score of the night -- to place 11th.
Air Force placed three Falcons in the top-10 of the vault, led by senior Kent Reichle (Cambridge, Minn.) who tied for third with a 9.000. Junior Eric Peele (Bethel, N.C.) and sophomore Ryan Stromstad (Corona, Calif.) tied for fifth with matching scores of 8.900.
Stromstad picked a team-leading 8.300 on the parallel bars to finish fourth, while Boardman tied for fifth with an 8.150 and Peele tied for eighth with an 8.050. Stromstad joined Sickles to lead the team on the high bar, both scoring an 8.100 to tie for sixth. Sophomore Edwin Berry (El Cajon, Calif.) tied for eighth with an 8.000, while Peele finished 10th, with a 7.750.
These three teams conclude the regular season on Sunday (March 20) with another three-way meet.
