BERKELEY, Cal. - With a score of 189.050, the Air Force men's gymnastics team finished fifth at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships on Saturday, March 31, in Berkeley, Calif. Air Force shined on the still rings, accounting for a season-best team score of 34.950 and a pair of top-10 individual finishes.
Junior Greg Stine (Houston, Texas) and sophomore Jacob Schonig (Los Gatos, Calif.) posted the best finishes of the night on the still rings. With a score of 9.450, Stine tied for fifth, while Schonig's 9.350 was tied for sixth.
In addition, Stine finished fifth in the all-around with a combined score of 51.050. Contributing to that score were team-best scores of 9.200 on the floor, 7.050 on the pommel horse, 9.450 on the still rings, 8.450 on the vault, 8.250 on the parallel bars, and a 8.650 on the high bar.
Freshman Brennan Wolford (Thornville, Ohio) posted the Falcons' second-highest score on the floor exercise at 8.450, while junior Brian Boardman (Naperville, Ohio) posted an 8.150 on the vault. Senior Kurt Antonio (Rio Rancho, N.M.) recorded the squad's second-best score on the parallel bars, while junior Tyler Sickles (Burke, Va.) claimed an 8.350 on the high bar.
