DAVIS, Calif. - Highlighted by a pair of top-three finishes from freshman Jenna Dudley, the Air Force women's gymnastics team concluded its conference opener at UC-Davis on Friday, Jan. 24. Dudley paced the Falcons on the uneven bars and floor exercise, while also leading the team in the all-around.
In their first dual meet of the season against a foe from the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation, the Falcons fell by a 191.050-187.175 margin to the host Aggies. As a team, Air Force improved its season-high total on the uneven bars (47.625) by nearly half a point.
Dudley's top finish was a second-place score of 9.725 on the floor exercise - a mark only .050 off of the meet leader. The freshman matched that score on the uneven bars, where she set a personal-best mark to finish third on that event. Dudley also increased her total in the all-around, collecting a 38.025 to finish second in the multi-event competition.
Senior Abbey Rogers led the Falcons on the vault, placing third with a score of 9.650, while sophomore Lisa Wong's eighth-place score of 9.475 on the balance beam was the team's best performance of the night on that apparatus.
Rogers added a pair of 9.650 scores to her total, finishing fifth on the uneven bars and tying for fourth on the floor exercise with those matching totals. Sophomore Brittany Dutton also accounted for a top-five finish on the vault, with a season-best score of 9.500.
The Falcons return to action on Monday, Feb. 2, when they host Alaska-Anchorage at the Cadet West Gym.
