Air Force Places Third at Fox Run Invitational

DURHAM, N.H. - Sophomore Brittany Dutton picked up three top-10 finishes, as the Air Force women's gymnastics team finished third at the Fox Run Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 14, in Durham, N.H. Dutton was the Falcons' top scorer on a pair of individual events, as well as the all-around.
Air Force tallied a team score of 187.800 to finish third in the four-team meet. New Hampshire won its own invitational, with a score of 194.875. Bridgeport placed second with a total of 189.400, while Yale rounded out the field with a team score of 157.500.
Dutton paced the Falcons on the floor exercise, matching her career-best total at 9.775 to finish in a tie for fifth. She first posted that score earlier this season at home against Alaska-Anchorage. The sophomore was the only Air Force top-10 finisher on the balance beam, placing ninth with a mark of 9.525. She also finished tied for third in the all-around with a combined score of 37.850.
Tying with Dutton in the all-around was freshman Samantha Jones, who posted a career-best mark in the multi-event scoring. In addition to her score of 37.850, Jones set a career-best total on the floor exercise at 9.650. Jones also picked up a pair of top-10 finishes, as she tied for sixth on the vault (9.625) and ninth on the uneven bars (9.525).
Senior Abbey Rogers was Air Force's top finisher on the vault, as she placed fifth with a mark of 9.650, while junior Aftan Boudreaux paced the squad on the uneven bars with a seventh-place score of 9.625. Boudreaux, who set a career-best score on the vault at 9.300, also upped her personal mark on the floor, as she garnered a mark of 9.700 to place 10th.
Air Force returns to the Academy on Thursday, Feb. 19, when it hosts Texas Woman's University, the defending USAG national champions. Action is slated to begin at 6 p.m., in the Cadet West Gym.
