Air Force Falls to Centenary

SHREVEPORT, La. - Despite posting its second-highest score of the season, the Air Force women's gymnastics team dropped a four-point decision to Centenary on Friday, Feb. 6, in Shreveport, La. The Falcons, competing in Centenary's home opener, nearly reached the 190-point plateau for the second time this week, but ultimately fell by a 192.800-189.550 decision.
Freshman Jenna Dudley was the Falcons lone event winner, placing first on the balance beam with a career-best score of 9.675. Dudley was also the Falcons top finisher on the uneven bars and all-around, tallying personal-high marks on both. Her score of 9.800 on the uneven bars was third, while she finished second in the all-around at 38.825 - just .100 off of the meet winner.
Senior Abbey Rogers was the top Air Force performer on the vault and floor exercise, placing second on both apparatus. Rogers matched her season-high on the floor exercise with a score of 9.775, while collecting a 9.675 on the vault. She and Dudley finished second and third (9.725) on the vault to break up Centenary's stronghold on the top seven spots.
The Falcons claimed two other top-five finishes during their second dual meet of the season. Sophomore Lisa Wong tied for second on the balance beam, garnering a career-best total of 9.650, while junior Aftan Boudreaux upped her personal-best score on the uneven bars to tie for fourth at 9.775. That mark is an impressive .125 improvement over the previous high mark of the Louisiana native.
As a team, Air Force tallied a season-high score of 47.075 on the balance beam.
The Falcons continue on the road next weekend, when they travel to Durham, N.H., for the Fox Run Invitational on Saturday, Feb, 14. Air Force will face Bridgeport, New Hampshire and Yale at the quadrangular meet.
