Falcons travel to RIT for two-game league set

This Week Air Force (12-12-6, 12-6-6 AHA) travels to Rochester, N.Y., for a two-game league series with RIT (18-5-1, 18-11-2 AHA), 7:05 p.m. each night EST. Air Force is in third place in the AHA with 30 points, seven points behind league-leading RIT.
Radio/Internet/Television Both games will be broadcast in Colorado Springs on The Sports Animal AM 1300 and on the internet at GoAirForceFalcons.com. Pregame show is at 4:35 p.m. MST each night with the faceoff at 5:05 p.m. MST. Both games will be video streamed with audio by the B2 Network on a subscription basis. Recently Air Force, off last week, lost to 10th-ranked Colorado College, 2-0, at the World Arena on Feb. 5, and then fell to second-ranked Denver, 2-1 in overtime, at the Academy, Feb. 6. RIT swept Army, 3-0 and 5-2, last week at West Point.
Scouting the Tigers RIT is 18-11-1 overall and receiving votes in both national polls. The Tigers are in first place in the AHA with an 18-5-1 record and 37 points, six points ahead of Sacred Heart. RIT swept Army last weekend at West Point, 3-0 and 5-2. RIT has won three of the last four and nine of the last 12. RIT finishes the season with four straight at home, AFA this weekend and Canisius next weekend. RIT is 9-2 at home this season with the only losses to Niagara and Bentley by one goal each. Junior Andrew Favot leads the team with 11 goals and 33 points. Senior Dan Ringwald is one of the top scoring defenseman in the nation with eight goals and 24 points Senior Jared DeMichiel has a .917 saves percentage and a 2.19 goals against average to rank second and fourth in the AHA, respectively.
Series with RIT AFA and RIT have played 24 times. AFA leads the overall series, 12-10-2. Eight of the 24 games have gone into overtime. Of the 22 games where there was a winner, 12 were decided by one goal and four others by two goals. As AHA foes, the team have met 15 times and AFA leads the series 8-6-1. AFA is 3-4 all-time vs. RIT at Ritter Arena. The teams met earlier this season at the Academy and Air Force won 5-4 in regulation and 3-2 in overtime. In the first game, Tim Kirby's first goal of the season came with 1:45 remaining in regulation for a 5-4 win. In the second game, Matt Fairchild scored the game winner with less than a second left in overtime for a 3-2 win. Andrew Volkening stopped 65 of the 71 shots he faced in the series. Jared DeMichiel stopped 56 of the 64 shots he faced. RIT outshot AFA in both games and 71-64 in the series.
