This Week Air Force (5-4-2, 4-2-1 AHA) host a two-game league series against UConn (4-5-2, 3-2-1 AHA), Friday-Saturday, Nov. 25-26, at 7:05 p.m. each night at Cadet Ice Arena. Air Force is in third place in the AHA with nine points while UConn is fifth with seven points.
Radio/Internet/Television All games will be broadcast in Colorado Springs on The Sports Animal AM 1300 and on the internet at www.GoAirForceFalcons.com. Pregame show begins 30 minutes before faceoff each day. Jay Ritchie will call the play-by-play while Dave Toller will be the color analyst. Scouting the Huskies UConn is 4-5-2 overall and 3-2-1 in the AHA for fifth place. Sophomore forwards Brant Harris, Cole Schneider and Billy Latta are pacing the team. Harris leads the AHA in goals (9) and points (13). Schneider has four goals and six assists while Latta has two goals and seven assists. Junior goalie Garrett Bartus has played every minute. He leads the AHA and is ninth in the nation with a .931 saves percentage. His 2.60 goals-against average is seventh in the AHA. UConn is fifth in the league in scoring defense, allowing just 2.82 goals per game. Last week, the Huskies beat Sacred Heart, 8-3, on Friday then fell to No. 8 Yale, 5-3, on Saturday. Bartus made 38 saves in the loss at Yale. UConn has the No. 1 power play in the nation at 31.1 percent (14-45). The Huskies were 5-for-5 vs. Sacred Heart and 1-for-3 vs. Yale last week.
Series with UConn Air Force and UConn have played 23 times and the Falcons hold a 16-3-4 lead in the series that began in 1987. As AHA foes, AFA holds an 8-2-4 lead in the series beginning in the 2006-07 season AFA is 12-1-1 all-time in games played at the Cadet Ice Arena and 4-1-1 as AHA rivals. AFA is unbeaten in the last 10 games against UConn, dating back to a 3-2 overtime loss at home in 2007. The teams played twice last season at UConn and the Falcons took three points with a 2-1 win and a 5-5 overtime tie. The last four games, and 10 of the last 12, have been decided by one goal or ended in a tie.
