Air Force Falls to Minnesota on the Road

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - In its final game before the exam break, the Air Force women's basketball team dropped an 81-46 decision to Minnesota Wednesday evening at Williams Arena.

Air Force (4-6) never led in the contest, and never got closer than one point early in the first half. The Gophers outscored the Falcons, 26-6, in the final nine minutes of the opening period to take a 47-23 advantage at the intermission.

Minnesota (5-5), which shot nearly 55 percent from the field in the first half, outrebounded Air Force and shot 21 free throws, compared to just eight for the Falcons. Meanwhile, Air Force had trouble taking care of the ball, committing 27 turnovers in the game.

Dymond James (Jr., Brambleton, Va.) and Camille Thompson (So., McDonough, Ga.) led the Falcons with 10 points each, while four different players scored in double-figures for the Golden Gophers, led by Rachel Banham with 18 points.

The Falcons have nearly two weeks off before returning to action with two games in California. Air Force will take on San Jose State on Dec. 19, while visiting Pacific on Dec. 21.
