Falcons Finish Third at Washington Tri-Meet

SEATTLE, Wash. - The Air Force women's gymnastics team had its three-meet winning streak snapped on Friday, March 11, with a third-place finish at the Washington Triangular in Seattle, Wash. Competing in her first vault competition of the season, freshman Jen Larsen posted the team's best placement of the night and the Falcons' second-best score of the season on that event at 9.725.
Air Force tallied a team score of 189.175 to finish third in its final road meet of the season. Washington, which is ranked 15th in the nation, won its own home meet with a score of 195.425, while the Falcons' Mountain Pacific Sports Federation foe, Seattle Pacific, placed second with a score of 190.050.
Larsen, competing in her first collegiate all-around (37.725, third), recorded team-leading scores on both the vault and uneven bars. Larsen finished fifth on the vault with a debut score of 9.725 - the second-highest vault score of the season by a member of the Falcons' squad. She also led the team on the uneven bars (9.575, 11th), while earning a 10th-place, career-best matching score of 9.625 on the floor exercise.
Fellow freshman Linnaea Hance posted the team's top finish on the balance beam with a score of 9.625 to place seventh, while junior Samantha Jones collected the top score on the floor exercise (9.675) to tie for sixth.
Jones also earned a top-10 finish on the vault, as she tied for seventh on the vault (9.700) with sophomore Tara Harris. Senior Holland Davis finished 10th on that event with a 9.575. In addition, freshmen Emily Bucher and Janie Kovacs placed among the top 10 on the balance beam. Bucher placed eight with a career-high 9.575, while Kovacs finished 10th in her collegiate debut with a score of 9.400.
Air Force returns home on Monday, March 14, to host No. 18 Denver at 6 p.m.
