Air Force Wins Exhibition Against Adams State, 50-37

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force women's basketball defeated Adams State, 50-37, in an exhibition game Friday night at Clune Arena. The Falcons led wire-to-wire in the game, holding the Grizzlies to 19.7 percent shooting from the field.
Sophomore guard Cortney Porter paced the Falcons with a game-high 16 points. Porter also led Air Force with five assists and four steals. Sophomore center Maggie Borngesser added six points and a game-high 11 rebounds.
The Falcons played a dominant first half, jumping ahead 31-10. The Air Force defense held Adams State to just 11.5 percent shooting from the field (3-for-26). At one point in the first-half, the Falcons held the Grizzlies without a field goal for nearly 12 minutes--from the 7:36 mark in the first-quarter to the 4:22 mark in the second quarter. Air Force allowed just seven points to Adams State in the first quarter and three in the second.
Air Force also had strong performances from junior guard Sydney Graham and freshman forward Cheyenne Wall. Graham finished second on the team with nine points, connecting on a pair of three-point baskets to start the game. Wall had three points and nine rebounds, including two blocked shots.
Three other freshmen played for the Falcons. Hometown product Venessannah Itugbu (Mesa Ridge High School) scored two points and had four rebounds. Forward Darby Glaab had one rebound and guard Monica Mammah also saw action.
Adams State was led by guard DeShea Wilkes, who had a team-high 12 points and seven steals.
The Falcons had a strong overall game, winning the rebounding margin 57-48, the assists battle 13-9 and blocking four shots to ASU's two.
Air Force opens the regular season next Friday, Nov. 13, at Gonzaga.
