
Falcons Fall to Arizona State in Regular Season Finale

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - The Air Force women's gymnastics team closed out the regular season this evening (March 13) with a 195.175-191.050 loss to Arizona State in Tempe. Senior Jessica Wallander (vault) and sophomore Kara Witgen (floor exercise) paced the Falcons with top-three finishes on their respective events.
Wallander scored a 9.775 to finish second on the vault, while Witgen tallied a season-best 9.825 to finish third on the floor exercise. Wallander joined Witgen among the top-half of the field on the floor, as she and classmate Alexandra Stych tied for fourth with scores of 9.800 (a season-best matching score for Stych).
The Falcons placed two within the top-six of the vault and balance beam. Freshman Casey Bell scored a career-best 9.650 to join Wallander among the top-six of the vault (fifth), while classmate Jamie Lewis and senior Kim McRobbie tied for fifth on the balance beam with 9.700 scores. In addition to her fourth-place finish on the floor, Stych was the Falcons' top-finisher on the uneven bars, scoring a 9.725 to place seventh.
Air Force opens the championship portion of its season next Saturday (March 21), when it travels to Anchorage, Alaska, for the 2015 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships.
