
Falcons Finish Fourth at Denver Quadrangular

DENVER, Colo. – Backed by three top-10 finishes from senior Kara Witgen and a top-five finish from junior Casey Bell, the Air Force women's gymnastics team closed out competition at the DU Quadrangular this evening (Jan. 14) in Denver. The Falcons scored a 189.900 to finish fourth, behind seventh-ranked Denver (196.350), Arizona State (193.275) and Texas Woman's University (192.125).
Witgen was the Falcons' top performer on two events, as she tied for sixth on the vault and placed ninth on the balance beam with matching scores of 9.750. The senior co-captain, who matched her career-high score on the vault, also accounted for an eighth-place finish on the floor exercise (9.775).
Backed by the Falcons' highest individual score of the night, Bell posted the team's top event finish, as she matched her career-high of 9.825 to tie for fourth on the floor exercise.
Freshman Anna Salamone was the Falcons' top finisher on the uneven bars (14th, 9.625), while sophomore Mariana Murphy registered a 37.775 to finish seventh in the all-around.
Air Force returns to the Academy next Saturday (Jan. 21), when it hosts Sacramento State in the Falcons' Mountain Pacific Sports Federation opener. Action is slated to begin at 6:00 p.m.
