
Tim Wang Places Seventh in Winter Cup Prelim

LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- Backed by an all-around total of 81.050, Air Force senior Tim Wang finished seventh during the preliminary round of action at the prestigious Winter Cup Challenge this evening (Feb. 16) in Las Vegas. In addition to finishing seventh in the evening session, Wang's score was ranked seventh among the full 81-gymnast field that competed throughout the day.
The senior collected three top-10 finishes on the night, placing sixth on the pommel horse (14.200), seventh on the parallel bars (13.750) and 10th on the vault (14.400). Tying for 11th with a score of 13.800, Wang narrowly missed a top-10 placement on the still rings. He rounded out his night with a 12.950 on the floor exercise (24th) and an 11.950 on the high bar (28th, tie).
As one of the top-42 gymnasts from today's preliminary round, Wang will continue competition at the Winter Cup Challenge on Saturday, Feb. 18, during the event finals at 7:15 p.m. (PT). Performances from the two-day competition will help decide the 15 men who will comprise the U.S. Men's Senior National Team.
