
Falcons Tally 193.975 in Loss to Bridgeport

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – The Air Force women's gymnastics team closed out its East Coast road swing with a 194.275-193.975 loss to Bridgeport on Sunday, Feb. 26. Junior Jamie Lewis claimed an event title for the Falcons, who registered the sixth-highest team total since head coach Doug Day's arrival in 2007.
Lewis shared the meet lead on the vault, as she tied for first with a score of 9.775. The junior was one of four Falcons to place within the top half of the 12-gymnast field on that event, as the team posted a combined score of 48.325. Sophomore Riley Hill placed third with a tally of 9.750, while freshman Anna Salamone and senior Kara Witgen placed finished fifth (9.700) and sixth (9.675), respectively.
The Falcons collected three top-six finishes on the remaining three events.
Witgen earned runner-up honors on the balance beam (9.750), while sophomore Mariana Murphy and freshman Rita Koenigbauer were part of a four-way tie for fourth (9.725). Lewis and senior Darby Germain shared the team lead on the floor exercise, tying for third with matching scores of 9.800, and Witgen, who placed third in the all-around with a tally of 38.775, tied for sixth with a score of 9.775. Murphy and Salamone finished third (9.750) and fourth (9.725), respectively, on the uneven bars, while Germain finished sixth with a tally of 9.625.
The Falcons return to action next weekend, when they travel to Cape Girardeau, Mo., on Sunday, March 5, to take on Southeast Missouri.
