
Air Force Falls to #22 BYU on Friday

PROVO, Utah – Sophomore Anna Salamone tied for first on the uneven bars this evening (Jan. 26), as the Air Force women's gymnastics team returned to action against 22nd-ranked BYU in Provo, Utah. The Falcons registered a score of 192.700 – their second-highest total of the season – during a loss to the nationally-ranked Cougars (196.450).
Salamone, who scored a career-best 9.875 to earn a share of first on the uneven bars, also paced the Falcons on the vault with a mark of 9.275 (seventh).
Junior Mariana Murphy, who joined Salamone among the top-half of the 12-gymnast field on the uneven bars (sixth tie, 9.775), was also the squad's top performer on the balance beam, as she matched her personal-best score of 9.800. Freshman Cam Barber, competing in her first collegiate meet, scored a 9.750 on that event to join Murphy in the top-six (sixth). Fellow freshman Tyler Davis rounded out the squad's event leaders, as she tallied a 9.750 to finish seventh on the floor exercise.
The Falcons return to action next week, when they travel to Anchorage, Alaska, for a triangular meet against Mountain Pacific Sports Federation foes Alaska and Sacramento State on Saturday, Feb. 3.
