Air Force (0-2-0, 0-0-0 AHC) opens Atlantic Hockey Conference play with a road series at Canisius (1-1-0, 1-1-0 AHC), Friday-Saturday, Oct. 19-20, at the Harborcenter in Buffalo, N.Y.

Air Force opens conference play this weekend in Buffalo. In Atlantic Hockey openers, Air Force is 7-4-1. The Falcons have won two straight conferences openers, beating Bentley at home in 2016 and Canisius last season in Buffalo.

Air Force and Canisius were picked to finish first and second, respectively, in the preseason coaches and media polls. The last two seasons, these teams have finished in the top three in the league. Last season, Canisius was second and Air Force tied for third. In last season's AHC semifinals, Air Force defeated Canisius, 3-0. In 2016-17, Canisius won the regular season title while Air Force was second. Air Force went on to win the 2016-17 tournament title while Canisius fell in the semifinals. In 2015-16, Air Force finished second while Canisius was sixth. The Falcons defeated the Griffs in the AHC quarterfinals at the Academy that season.
Scouting the Griffs
Canisius is 1-1 overall and 1-1 in the league. The Griffs opened the season by splitting a league series at Holy Cross last weekend. HC won game one, 4-2, while Canisius won the second game, 7-6. Nick Hutchison (3-1-4) and Jimmy Mazza (1-3-4) lead the team with four points each. Tucker Weppner started both games in goal and had an .840 saves percentage and a 4.04 GAA.
