THIS WEEK: The 15th-ranked Air Force Falcons continue their home stretch with a pair of matches against San Jose State and Seattle U, Oct. 18 and Oct. 20, respectively. Both matches are slated for a 6 p.m. start at Cadet Soccer Stadium. The Falcons and Spartans will be meeting for the 40th time in program history. San Jose State leads the series, 11-23-5, winning their most recent match against Air Force in last season's WAC Championship semi-finals, 1-0. Air Force and Seattle U, who is receiving votes in the most recent coaches' poll, will be meeting for the 12th time with the Falcons leading the series, 5-4-2. In last season's match up, the Falcons battled back from a two-goal deficit to play the Redhawks to a tie, 2-2, in Seattle.
ON THE MAP: The national rankings stayed pretty much the same this week with Air Force remaining 15th in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 and 11th in the College Soccer News Top 30. The Falcons did move up one spot in the Top Drawer Soccer Top 25, coming in at 19th this week. Seattle U is also in the national discussion, receiving votes in the USC Top 25 and ranking 24th in the CSN Top 30.
The United Soccer Coaches switched up the regional ranking system for 2018 and the WAC is now in the Far West Region with the Pac-12 and Big West conferences. Air Force remains second in the ranking, trailing on three-time defending national champion Stanford. Seattle U moved up a spot to four while Utah Valley jumped two spots to eighth.
The WAC has five teams in the top 100 of the latest NCAA RPI Rankings. Air Force leads the way at 32nd, followed by UT Rio Grande Valley at 50 and Seattle U at 62. Utah Valley is 83rd with Houston Baptist just inside the top-100 at 99.
UP NEXT: The remainder of Air Force's schedule continues to intensify as Seattle U, UNLV, GCU and Utah Valley, along with Air Force, help make up the top-seven teams in the league. It should be noted that only the top-seven teams in the league get seeded in the WAC Championship tournament, hence the Falcons' remaining schedule could be a good glimpse at the tournament field. The Falcons take to the road for a pair of conference matches against two of those teams. Air Force and UNLV will meet Friday at 7 p.m. PT, and against Grand Canyon, Sunday, at 1 p.m. PT. Air Force and UNLV will be meeting for the 40th time in program history; the Falcons lead the series, 20-16-3. The Falcons and Lopes of GCU will be meeting for the seventh time; Air Force leads the series 4-1-1.
LAST WEEK: Air Force blanked Houston Baptist (4-5-3, 2-3-1 WAC) in convincing fashion, 4-0, Saturday evening at Cadet Soccer Stadium. The Falcons, who improved to 12-2 with a 5-1 mark in the WAC, played 25 players in the match, led by All-American Tucker Bone who tallied two goals.
BONE WINS POTW-- AGAIN: Bone, a senior forward from Granite Bay, Calif., scored twice as the 15th-ranked Falcons earned a 4-0 win at home over Houston Baptist. The 2018 MAC Hermann watch list midfielder gave Air Force the early lead in the 13th minute when he was able to get a head on a cross and direct the ball into the lower right corner. After two more Air Force goals, he scored his second goal of the match in the 66th minute, firing from straight in for his ninth score of the year and the 4-0 Air Force win. The honor marks Bone's third of the season-- he is the WAC's only repeat winner so far this year.
AIR FORCE AT A GLANCE: The Falcons are playing high-level soccer worthy of discussion among the nation's top teams. Air Force has scored four times as many goals as opponents faced (37-9), have taken nearly twice as many shots as all opponents per game (222-124), and more than double all opponents' shots on goal (99-45). Air Force has taken five or more shots on goal in 13 of 14 matches. The Falcons' stingy defense has yielded six shutouts this season while holding eight of 14 opponents to single-digit shot counts, and all opponents to five or less shots on goal for the match.
Individually, Bone leads the team with nine goals, 23 points and 37 shots. His five assists tie Luis Martinez for the lead of the team. Bone's 23 points put him at 14th-most in the country. Dewing has also put up considerable numbers this season, registering eight goals and three assists for 19 points, and 31 shots while leading the squad with 19 shots on frame. Dewing's 19 points land him at 37th-most in the nation. Thirteen Falcons have registered a goal this season with six recording two or more and four recording four or more, combining for the most goals in conference and third-most in the nation.
In goal, Andrea Seazzu is proving to be one of the top keepers in the country with a 0.589 goals against average; a mark that puts him at 11th-best in the NCAA. He has the second-best save-percentage in the WAC and 26th-best in the country (0.814). Seazzu's relatively low save-count (35) can likely be attributed to the Air Force's suffocating style of defense that allows opponents just a few opportunities on frame per game.
In regards to the conference, Seattle U leads the WAC in shots (257), it is Air Force holding the top spot in points (107), goals (37), assists (33), least goals allowed (9) and goals against average (0.63). The Falcons are tied with Seattle U for the lead in shutouts with six. Houston Baptist has the lead in saves with 63.
Individually, UNLV's Marco Gonzalez holds the lead in shots (51) while CBU's Preston Judd has the lead in points (26) and goals (12). HBU's Jorge Cabrera is the saves leader (58) while SU's Josh Adachi has the most shutouts (6).
In WAC play only, Seattle U leads in shots (117) and Air Force leads in points (52), goals (17), assists (18), goals against average (0.65) and are tied with Utah Valley for least goals allowed (4). Houston Baptist has the lead in saves (35) while four schools are tied for the lead in shutouts (3).

AFA's Seazzu has the best goals against average (0.54) while CBU's Albert Escuin has the league's top save percentage (.852). HBU's Cabrera is the leader in saves (34) while three players have three shutouts each.
AMONG THE BEST: The class of 2019 is considerably one of the program's best teams to date, adding two All-Americans in the 2017 campaign, a program-best five to the All-West Regional team and another program-best eight to All-WAC teams. In terms of winning, they have posted 47 career wins to date with at least five games remaining in their career. The most-winning class to date is the class of 1989, who in the season of 1988, recorded their 50th win. Associate head coach Chris Foster was the captain of that team in his senior campaign.
Bone has played in all 47 of Air Force's wins over the last four seasons. Teammate Austin Dewing did not play in one of the wins, totaling 46 career wins with the Falcons. Bone and Dewing are the Falcons' senior-most veterans with Bone making 60 career starts in 73 matches played while Dewing has played in 70 career matches with 41 starts. Albeit Bone has more wins on his career profile, Dewing has the better win-percentage. Bone's win-percentage is .644 while Dewing's is .657.

Seattle U's Rivas is also third in shots with 216.
Bone and Dewing have also impacted the Air Force career record books this season. Dewing is now 14th in the all-time points category with 67 points, while Bone is at 19th with 63 career points. Bone's 21 career assists place him at ninth on the all-time assists list.
The Falcons are on track to potentially shatter two more program records; most single-season wins (15) set by the 1980 and 1993 teams, and most single-season shutouts (10), which the 2017 and 1998 teams are currently tied for. The senior class of 2019 currently has 29 shutouts credited to their four-year term.
