Air Force men's soccer will take a shot at overthrowing No. 2 seed, Indiana, Sunday at 12 ET
NCAA ROUND THREE: After picking up two wins in four days to open the NCAA Tournament, the Air Force Falcons will fly off to Bloomington, Ind., for a third-round matchup on Sunday with second-seeded Indiana. The Hoosiers head into the weekend holding a record of 18-2-1 overall and 10-0-0 at home. IU opened up tournament play on Sunday with a 4-0 win over Connecticut. Andrew Gutman leads the Hoosiers offensively with 11 goals and eight assists this season, including seven game-winning goals. Trevor Swartz is the set-up man, tallying 13 assists on the year. In goal, Trey Muse has seen the majority of time, allowing 11 goals in 1892 minutes for a 0.52 goals-against average and .796 save percentage.
The last time Air Force made it to the third round of the national tournament was in 1993, where the Falcons played South Carolina in the round of eight.
WINNING ROUND TWO: Air Force knocked off the ninth-ranked (15-seed) University of Denver, 2-1, in the second round of the NCAA national tournament, Nov. 18, in Denver, Colorado. The Falcons continue to press the single-season wins bar higher as they improved to 17-4 heading into the round of 16.
Air Force got off to the faster start, winning the possessions and pressing the attack early on in front of a well-travelled Air Force crowd in University of Denver Soccer Stadium. A defensive miscue between the Pioneers' keeper and defender yielded a wide open goal to Klint Parker in full stride, punching the ball in from a yard out for the opening goal in the 13th minute. The goal marked Parker's eighth of the season.
In the 29th minute, a Denver defenseman fouled a Falcon in the box yielding Air Force a penalty kick opportunity. Team captain and Colorado Springs native Austin Dewing took the line and finished with a rocket into the right center for his 12th goal of the season.
The Pioneers notched a goal early in the second half but were unable to convert an equalizer by the end of regulation.
CRUISING THROUGH ROUND ONE: A second-half surge propelled No. 20 Air Force past the University of Central Arkansas, 4-0, in the first round of the national tournament, Thursday evening, at Cadet Soccer Stadium, USAFA. The win marked the Falcons' 16th of the season, shattering the previous single-season wins record previously held by the 1993 team, which was the last team to advance to the second round of the national tournament. Danny Han, Klint Parker, Tucker Bone and James Sims registered goals in the win. The Falcons were one of four teams to score four goals in the opening round, tying a program-high NCAA goals record (1964, Cal Berkley).
BREAKIN' THINGS: Air Force broke two program records with the win against Central Arkansas; most single-season wins (16) and most single-season home wins (10-0). The class of 2019, which tallied 50 wins over their four-year term to tie the class of 1989, broke the program record for class wins (51), then furthered the record to 52 with a win at Denver.
ON THE MAP: Despite a loss in the WAC Tournament, the Falcons remain a top-25 team heading into the NCAA Tournament. Air Force is ranked 20th in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 and 17th in the College Soccer News Top 30.
The United Soccer Coaches switched up the regional ranking system for 2018 and the WAC is now in the Far West Region with the Pac-12 and Big West conferences. Air Force dropped one spot to third in the regional rankings while Grand Canyon moved into the rankings at sixth. The Falcons moved up to 26thin the RPI rankings, two spots higher than last week.
AIR FORCE AT A GLANCE: The Falcons are playing high-level soccer worthy of discussion among the nation's top teams. Air Force has scored nearly four times as many goals as opponents faced (54-15). The Falcons' 54 goals is the most in the nation, two more than top-seeded Wake Forest. Air Force's exceptional offense spreads the ball so well that the Falcons' have recorded more than five-times as many assists as opponents faced (43-7), while 13 Falcons have registered a goal this season-- six players have recorded two or more goals and four have recorded four or more. Air Force's 151 points is the second-most in the nation, 13 short of the national front-running Demon Deacons. With an offense that scores 2.57 goals per game, the Falcons have the third-best scoring offense in the NCAA.
Air Force has taken far more shots than opponents were allowed (333-212), and more than double all opponents' shots on goal (157-75). The Falcons 7.48 shots on goal per game is the third-most in the nation. Air Force has taken five or more shots on goal in 19 of 21 matches played.
The Falcons' stingy defense has yielded eight shutouts this season while holding all but two opponents to five or less shots on goal for the match, most recently holding WAC champions Grand Canyon to only two shots on goal in the semi-finals match.
Individually, Bone leads the squad with 32 points from 13 goals and six assists, a mark that ranks him at 10th-most goals in the nation while also boasting the ninth-most points in the nation. Bone has also notched five game-winning goals this season, making him first in the conference and 11th in the nation in total game-winners. Dewing has put up impressive numbers as well, recording 12 goals, a mark that puts him at 15th-most in the country. Senior teammate Luis Martinez leads the team with seven assists.
In goal, Andrea Seazzu is proving to be one of the top keepers in the country with a 0.680 goals against average; a mark that puts him atop the conference and 13th-best in the NCAA. He has the second-best save-percentage in the WAC and 27th-best in the country (0.806). Seazzu's relatively low save-count (58) can likely be attributed to Air Force's suffocating style of defense that allows opponents just a few opportunities on frame per game; case in point, holding San Jose State to zero shots on goal for the entire match, Oct. 18. Seazzu recorded a career-high eight saves against GCU on Oct. 28. He now holds the program record for most single-season wins.
UP NEXT: The winner of the round of 16 match between Air Force and No. 2-seed Indiana will take on the winner of Sunday's match between the No. 7-seed Notre Dame and No. 10-seeded University of Virginia. The quarterfinals match will be played Nov. 30 or Dec. 1.

Albeit Bone has more wins on his career profile, Dewing has the better win-percentage. Bone's win-percentage is .660 while Dewing's is .674.
