Air Force Falls at Portland, 60-79

Air Force women’s basketball was unable to tame the Portland offense in the Tuesday evening matchup
PORTLAND, Oregon - Air Force fell to Portland, 60-79, Tuesday evening in the Chiles Center. The Falcons drop to 4-6 on the season while the Pilots improve to 8-3 heading in to the holiday break.
Sophomore guard Emily Conroe led the Falcons' in scoring with 10 points, while four other Falcons registered six points apiece. Conroe shot 5-9 from the field while freshman teammate Briana Autrey, who shot 3-4 from the field, had the best shooting percentage (75.0) on the game. Freshman forward Riley Snyder led the team with eight rebounds, tying her career-best mark, while adding two three-pointers to the scoresheet.
The Falcons struggled with shooting and turnovers, shooting 36.2 percent from the field while turning the ball over 19 times.
Portland's Julie Spencer was the x-factor in the game, leading the Pilots with 21 points. She shot 4-6 from beyond the arc, taking the wind out of Air Force's sails on multiple occasions.
Air Force continues action on the road as the Falcons travel to Eugene, Oregon, to take on the No. 7 Oregon Ducks, Thursday, Dec. 20, at 11 a.m. PT. Thursday's game marks the first meeting between the programs.
Notables:
-Air Force's 10th game marks the 10th start for Alexis Springfield, the only player on the team to start every game.
-Kaelin Immel grew up and played high school ball just outside of Portland in neighboring Beaverton, OR. She had roughly a 20-fan contingent in the Chiles Center.
-Riley Snyder tied a personal season-high eight rebound performance.

-Tanisha Elbourne followed up with a bucket driven hard to the rack to put the Falcons on a 5-0 run, bringing the team within four at the close of the quarter
-Elbourne and Snyder led the team with six points apiece at the end of the half
-Air Force shot 40.0 percent from the field and 60.0 percent from the free throw line in the second quarter
