
Fletcher Braunton, Lukas Texeira Claim USAG Titles

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. – Senior Fletcher Braunton and junior Lukas Texeira captured individual USAG titles this afternoon (March 31), as members of the Air Force men's gymnastics team competed in the individual event finals of the 2018 USA Gymnastics Collegiate National Championships. By placing within the top-six of their respective events, seven Falcons received USAG All-America distinction.
Braunton scored a 13.400 to win the pommel horse, while Texeira tallied a 14.000 to win the high bar by 0.750 points. Braunton's victory marked the sixth-straight year that an Air Force gymnast has captured the USAG title on the pommel horse, while Texeira became the first Falcon to win the high bar since 2014.
Braunton was one of two Falcons to earn USAG All-America honors on the pommel horse, as freshman Scott McMurray finished sixth with a score of 12.150. Classmates Ethan Esval and Frankie Valentin also captured USAG All-America accolades in their first Collegiate National, as the pair finished second (13.500) and fifth (13.100), respectively, on the still rings.
Junior Jonah Urlaub, who won the all-around last night, picked up another pair of USAG All-America accolades this afternoon, as he placed second on the floor exercise (13.800) and sixth on the vault (13.850). Urlaub paced the Falcons to two of the top-three finishes on the floor exercise, as classmate Ryan Girouard scored a 13.750 to place third.
The Falcons remain at the Academy next weekend, as they host the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships on Saturday, April 7. Action for the conference meet is slated to begin at 5:00 p.m. (MT)
