Air Force men's soccer will take on service academy rivals in Annapolis, then conclude the weekend in Baltimore

THIS WEEK: Air Force (1-1) continues action on the road with a pair of matches against service academy rivals Navy (0-2), Aug. 31 in Annapolis, Md., and UMBC (2-0) on Sept. 2 in Baltimore, Md. The meeting with Navy marks the 10th contest between the rivals; Air Force leads the series 4-3-3. UMBC and the Falcons will be meeting for the second time in program history with the Retrievers tallying the only win in the series.
UP NEXT: Air Force opens the home slate with a pair of matches against North Florida and Colgate, Fri., Sept. 7 at 7 p.m., and Sun., Sept. 9 at 1 p.m., respectively. The meeting with North Florida marks the first time that the teams will meet. The match against Colgate marks the second meeting between the teams. The last time Air Force played Colgate was in the 2015 campaign where the Falcons fell, 2-3, on the road.
LAST WEEK: The Falcons split a pair of matches during the opening weekend at the James Madison Invitational, Aug. 24-26, in Harrisonburg, VA. Air Force came up short against Virginia Tech, 1-2, Friday evening but redeemed a win in a double-overtime, 1-0 victory, against James Madison on Sunday.
THE FALCONS AT A GLANCE: There Falcons' veteran starting lineup is made up of seven seniors and two juniors, led by team captains Tucker Bone and Austin Dewing who have played in 61 and 58 career games, respectively. Dewing and sophomore forward Aaron Uribe each tallied a goal for Air Force while Luis Martinez and Bone were credited with their assists.
Dewing and Bone lead the team with five shots apiece while Dewing and Klint Parker are tied with three shots on goal for the season. As a team, Air Force has outshot their opponents, 24-18, taking the majority of their shots in the first half.
Junior defender Nick Blessing and junior goalkeeper Andrea Seazzu have played every minute of the season thus far (199 minutes in two games). Seazzu has five career shutouts in six career appearances in the Falcons' goal.
LONG TIME NO SEE: Air Force and Navy are renewing its soccer rivalry for the first time since 2014 and this is the first meeting between the two programs in Annapolis since 2007. The last meeting during the 2014 season took place at the Air Force Academy, where the two sides played to a 1-1 draw. Of the five matches played in Annapolis, Navy holds a record of 3-1-1 and it won the last meeting at home, 1-0.
The last time the Falcons and retrievers met was in Baltimore in 2007; it was Doug Hill's first game as a head coach for Air Force soccer. The retrievers came out on top, 2-1.
