Falcon Women’s Hoops Downs Nevada in OT Thriller, 79-74

Riley Snyder led the Air Force women’s basketball team with a career-high 22 points, Saturday afternoon
USAF Academy, Colo. - Air Force rallied to a second-half comeback to beat Nevada (5-12, 1-5 MWC), 79-74, in overtime, Saturday afternoon, in Clune Arena. The Falcons improved to 6-11 overall with a 2-3 mark in league action.
Freshman forward Riley Snyder led the Falcons with a career-high 22 points. The Fruita, Colorado, native shot .714 from the field and collected six rebounds. The game marked her fourth double-figure scoring performance in the last five games.
Snyder was assisted by three other double-figure scorers in Emily Conroe (15), Briana Autrey (14), and Kaelin Immel (13). Immel lead the team with six assists while Autrey was credited with four. Autrey, Conroe and Immel were all perfect from the free throw line, shooting 6-6, 5-5 and 2-2, respectively. Conroe led the team with two three-pointers.
Junior forward Kassady Huffman led the squad with eight rebounds and three blocks while adding nine points to the final tally.
The Falcons shot exceptionally well on the night, hitting 29-66 from the field and 5-11 from deep, for shooting marks well over .400. Air Force also shot well from the free throw line, hitting 16-19 (84.2 percent) on the game. The teams were neck-and-neck in rebounds as the Wolf Pack collected 40 rebounds to the Falcons' 39.
Air Force's win killed Nevada's three-game winning streak over the Falcons and marked the first-time ever that Air Force has beaten Nevada in January.
The Wolf Pack was led by Jade Redmon who scored 18 points. Terae Briggs was also a force on the court for Nevada as she dropped 13 points and collected a game-high 13 rebounds, 12 of which were defensive.
The Falcons travel to Boise, Idaho, for a 7 p.m. MT tip-off, Wednesday, Jan. 23, in Taco Bell Arena. The Broncos (14-2, 5-0 MWWC) currently sit atop the MWC rankings. The game will mark the 17th meeting between the teams.

First Quarter: Nevada: 15, Air Force 7
-AF Starters: Haley Jones, Briana Autrey, Riley Snyder, Kaelin Immel, Kassady Huffman
-Tera Briggs of Nevada was the first to score with a layup down low, Huffman responded with a bucket and Jones followed up with another score following a forced turnover
-The teams went bucket-for-bucket up to six points apiece
-After a two-minute scoring drought by both teams, Nevada took the lead via a layup in the paint heading into the media timeout
-AF had shooting troubles early on, shooting 0-9 on a six-minute scoring drought, while Nevada capitalized with an 11-0 scoring run
-Tomes drew a shooting foul in the middle of the paint and connected on one-of-two to close the quarter
-Air Force shots just 21.0 percent on the quarter while Nevada shot over 50.0 percent
Second Quarter: Nevada 31, Air Force 29
-Conroe was the first player to put points up in the second quarter with a short jumper to bring Air Force within six
-Immel followed up with a three-ball to bring the Falcons within three
-Following two-straight Nevada buckets, Snyder drained her first three-ball with 6:45 remaining in the half, bringing Air Force within four
-Conroe knocked down here second-straight three out of the media timeout to give Air Force the lead, 24-23
-Nevada scored a layup to regain the lead, but Tomes followed up with her first three pointer to take it back
-At the end of the quarter Air Force shooting improved to 66.7 percent from three-point range and 69.2 percent from the field
-Snyder led the team with nine points, while Immel and Conroe had five apiece
Third Quarter: Air Force 46, Nevada 43
-Jade Redmon of Nevada was the first to score out of the halftime break, Immel responded with a short range jumper for two
-AF went on a 4-0 scoring run to knot the game at 33 just over a minute into the half, shortly after Snyder took the lead with a layup
-The teams scored back-and-forth up until the media timeout where Air Force held the lead, 39-37
-Redmond hit a jumper to knot the game at 39 out of the media timeout
-Following a three-minute scoring drought, Conroe drained her second three pointer to give the Falcons the 42-39 lead
-Nevada regained the lead via a pair of AF turnovers, but the Falcons battled back with a pair of buckets to retake, 46-43, to end the quarter
-Air Force shot 40.0 percent from the field while Nevada shot 44.4 percent
Fourth Quarter: Air Force 65, Nevada 65
-Huffman blocked a shot for the possession and fed Conroe in full stride who drew the shooting foul and connected on the and-one bucket to give Air Force a six-point lead
-Back-and-forth buckets, AF leads, 51-45, at the 9:19 mark
-Air Force built an eight-point lead which was hacked away by two straight Nevada three-balls, bringing the Wolf Pack within two, 53-51, at the media timeout
-Nevada tied the game with a 4-0 run off a fast-break layup, then took the lead with another layup
-Snyder drove the ball hard to the cup on two-straight attempts where she connected for the tying scores at 57 and 59
-The teams scored back-and-forth from the 57 mark to 65
-Tied at 65, Nevada called a timeout with the ball on their side with 17.2 seconds remaining in regulation
-The Pack setup a play a didn't convert, Snyder collected the rebound as Air Force called a timeout to advance the ball with 5.4 seconds remaining in regulation
-Nevada fouled on the in-bound and Air Force took possession from the base line with 5.4 seconds but was unable to cover the game-winner
- The Falcons shot 53.8 percent in the quarter and shot perfect, 5-5, from the free-throw line
Overtime: Air Force 79, Nevada 74
-Nevada scored first in extra time with a bucket and a connected and-one shot
-Huffman drew a shooting foul and hit 1-2 to bring AF within two
-Autrey drove hard to the rack and hit the equalizer at 70
-After a Nevada turnover, Snyder followed up with a hard drive to the cup where she drew the foul and hit the shot- she added the free throw to give Air Force the lead, 71-68
-The teams hit bucket-for-bucket, AF leads 75-72, with 31.2 remaining in OT1
-Autrey fumbled the inbound pass but redeemed the error with a steal as Nevada advanced, she was fouled and went to the line to hit 2-2 to life Air Force to a 77-72 lead with 22.5 remaining
-A designed Nevada play was not converted, Conroe snagged the rebound and was immediately fouled, she went to the line and hit both shots to extend Air Force's lead, 79-72
-Nevada added two via the free throw line, AF leads, 79-74
-Time expired with Air Force holding the five-point advantage
