Air Force Falls to Boise State, 79-48

Air Force women’s basketball was unable to get the shots to fall, Wednesday evening in Boise, Idaho
BOISE, Idaho - Air Force was unable to get shots to fall in Taco Bell Arena, falling to Mountain West front-runners Boise State, 79-48, Wednesday evening, in Boise, Idaho. The Falcons dropped to 6-12 overall with a 2-5 mark in league play while the Broncos improved to 15-2 with a perfect 5-0 mark in MWC play.
Air Force freshman Briana Autrey led the Falcons with 11 points and two assists in her second-straight double-figure scoring performance. Autrey also shot a perfect 3-3 from the free-throw line. Junior forward Kassady Huffman led the team with 10 rebounds, one short of her career-high, while adding five points to the final tally.
Boise State had four scorers in double-figures, led by A'Shanti Coleman's 18 points. The Broncos crashed the boards as they out-rebounded Air Force, 51-33. Both teams had trouble managing the ball as Air Force committed 18 turnovers to the Broncos' 17.
The major difference was shooting- Air Force only knocked down 17 buckets in 61 attempts (27.9%), and only two were three-balls. The Broncos shot 50.7 percent on the game in roughly the same amount of attempts.
The Falcons return to the Academy to host San Jose State, 2 p.m., Sat., Jan. 26, in Clune Arena. Air Force split last season's series with the Spartans, 1-1.
Quarter by Quarter Breakdown
First Quarter: BSU 20, AF 15
Air Force starters: Briana Autrey, Emily Conroe, Riley Snyder, Kaelin Immel, Kassady Huffman
-Braydey Hodgins of BSU drops the first bucket with a three-ball from deep, then assists in the Broncos' next bucket, BSU leads, 5-0
-Conroe scored first for AF with a jumper from the wing, BSU leads, 5-2
-AF turns the ball over twice on four possessions, BSU capitalizes for points, leads 9-2 (7:00)
-Falcons off to a slow start, shooting 1-5 in the first five attempts
-Hodgins opens up hot, knocks down her second three-ball five minutes into the game
-At the first media timeout, BSU shot 60.0 percent from the field, AF shot just 28.6 percent
-Conroe was the first to score out of the media timeout with a mid-range jumper
-Immel hits two-straight to go on a 4-0 scoring run, bringing AF within eight, 18-10
-Autrey drew the first shooting foul- she converted for a three-point play
-Autrey fouled again on the attack, hits 2-2

-AF off to another slow start in the quarter, hitting 1-6 in the first six attempts
-Huffman draws the foul in the paint and hits 2-2 to bring AF within five, 24-19
-AF shot 1-9 at the second-quarter media timeout, BSU shot 3-9
-Snyder knocked down AF's first three-ball (3:21), but AF shooting from the field remained in the doldrums (2-15)
-BSU built a 13-point lead, hitting six of the last seven attempts on the quarter while AF hit only one if its last nine attempts
-The Falcons shot 14.3 percent (3-21) from the field on the quarter while BSU shot 56.3 percent (9-16); however, AF had the superior free-throw percentage (83.3) to Boise State's (40.0)
