Women's Hoops Hosts San Jose State, Saturday Afternoon

Air Force women's basketball will tip off against San Jose State, 2 p.m., Sat., Jan. 26, in Clune Arena
AIR FORCE vs. SAN JOSE STATE: The Falcons return to the Academy to play host to San Jose State, 2 p.m., Sat., Jan. 26, in Clune Arena. Air Force (6-12, 2-5 MWC) split last season's series with the Spartans, 1-1. San Jose State (1-16, 0-6 MWC) comes to Clune Arena on a 13-game losing streak.
THE SERIES: The Falcons and Spartans will be meeting for the 15th time in the all-time series, with San Jose State leading, 11 wins to three.
-The series began in 1997
-Air Force won the last meeting, 66-60, in San Jose (Mar. 18)
-The Falcons have only beat the Spartans once in Clune Arena (1/28/15, W, 83-80)

LAST TIME OUT: Air Force was unable to get shots to fall in Taco Bell Arena, falling to Mountain West front-runners Boise State, 79-48, Wednesday evening, in Boise, Idaho. The Falcons dropped to 6-12 overall with a 2-5 mark in league play while the Broncos improved to 15-2 with a perfect 5-0 mark in MWC play.
Air Force freshman Briana Autrey led the Falcons with 11 points and two assists in her second-straight double-figure scoring performance. Autrey also shot a perfect 3-3 from the free-throw line. Junior forward Kassady Huffman led the team with 10 rebounds, one short of her career-high, while adding five points to the final tally.
A LOOK AT AIR FORCE: The talk of Air Force's offense is a quartet of underclassmen, two sophomores and two freshmen. Leading from the front, co-team captain Kaelin Immel, who averages 11.4 points per game. Immel has posted double-figure scoring marks in her last four-of-five games played, with a 15-point high in league play this season. When she isn't scoring she is facilitating action as a role-player; in Air Force's win against Nevada, Immel set two career-best marks- six assists and six blocks. She was perfect from the free-throw line (2-2) and played for a season-high 37 minutes.
Sophomore teammate Emily Conroe, who has also scored double-figures in four of her last five games, averages 9.9 points per game overall and 12.9 points per game in MWC action. Conroe's scoring this season is highlighted by a season-high 22-point performance to lead the Falcons to victory over the Colorado State Rams for the first time in 13 games. She averages the third-most rebounds per game (5.1) on the team and has the best free-throw shooting on the squad (.732). Conroe shot a perfect 5-5 from the foul-line in three of the last five contests and is 18-21 in the last five games. She is .769 from the line in MWC play.
The Falcons' fiery freshmen account for three of Air Force's top-five scorers, led by Riley Snyder who averages 10.0 points per game on the season and 12.1 points per game in MWC play. Snyder, who scored a career-high 22 points in the win against Nevada, has posted double-figure scoring marks in four of her last six games. Freshman teammate Briana Autrey averages 9.6 points per game and holds the best field-goal percentage on the team (.410). She dropped 14 points in the win against Nevada and shot a perfect 6-6 from the free-throw line in the same game. Autrey knows how to draw contact down low where she goes on to shoot .718 from the foul-line. The Snyder-Autrey duo are the only two Falcons to have two 20-plus scoring performances this season
Freshman teammate Haley Jones, who averages 5.9 points per game, is the second-leading rebounder on the team, averaging 5.2 boards per game-- she is sixth in the league in offensive rebounds. Jones, who has started in six-of-seven MWC games this season, is third in the conference in average steals (2.3) for MWC only game.
A QUICK LOOK AT SAN JOSE STATE: The Spartans are headed to Clune Arena with intent to kill a 13-game losing streak dating back to Nov. 29, 2018. San Jose State averages 59.4 points per game and shoots .349 from the field, marks that are both higher than Air Force's. The Spartans are led by Cydni Lewis who averages 9.8 points per game while shooting .410 from deep and .370 from the field. She also leads the team with 17 blocks and 4.9 rebounds per game.
The Spartans and Falcons have four common opponents in Nevada, Boise State, UNLV and Utah State. Air Force is 1-3 against those opponents while San Jose State is yet to win a MWC game. The Spartans' only win of the season was against CSU-Bakersfield, 82-72, on Nov. 24.
THE SPARTANS' LAST GAME: Three Spartans scored in double figures led by Cydni Lewis' 16 points, but the San José State women's basketball team fell to the Wyoming Cowgirls, 70-56, on Wednesday night in The Event Center.
In addition to Lewis offensive output she grabbed a team-high seven rebounds. Freshman Raziya Potter scored 12 points, had four boards, two assists and a steal and blocked shot. Junior Fieme'a Hafoka added 10 points and grabbed six rebounds.

The win set a program record for most Mountain West wins in a season for the Falcons and secured an eighth-seed at the Mountain West Basketball Championship Tournament.
Kaelin Immel and Emily Conroe combined for 40 points, including 19 of the teams' 25 points. Immel scored 21 points and set a new program freshman scoring record with 429 points on the season. Conroe added 19 points, with seven coming in the fourth quarter.
