Tyler Davis Leads the Falcons with a First-Place All-Around Finish

Air Force women’s gymnastics finished second-of-three teams, Saturday evening
USAF Academy, Colo. - Tyler Davis led the Falcons with a first-place finish in the all-around event, scoring 38.875, to set a career personal-best mark. Air Force finished second in the team results (193.675), while West Virginia won the high score on the meet.(194.750). SUNY Cortland State, who is helmed by Air Force head coach Doug Day's daughter, Sierra Day, finished third (180.475), Saturday afternoon (Jan. 19), at the Air Force Academy.
On the vault, Heidi Sand led the Falcons with a 9.825 to finish second in the event and set a new personal-best in the event. Anna Salamone, who holds the Academy record on the uneven bars, scored a 9.775 to finish second in the event.
Air Force, who is ranked No. 16 in the nation on the balance beam for week two, finished with a team score of 48.650 for their highest event score of the meet. Cam Barber, who is tied for the highest beam score of the season, continued to perform strongly in the event, posting a 9.800 to lead the Falcons with a second-place finish. Davis and Emily Luers finished tied for fourth (9.725), while Daija Stevenson and Mariana Murphy tied for sixth (9.700).
The Falcons travel to San Jose State for quad action with the Spartans, Seattle Pacific and Alaska, 7 p.m. PT, on Friday, January 25, in San Jose California. The meet will mark the second time that the Falcons and Spartans have competed against each other this season.
