
Late Rally Not Enough, As Air Force Downed By Duquesne At Junkanoo Jam

BIMINI, Bahamas - Air Force men's basketball dropped a 69-63 contest to Duquesne Friday night at the Junkanoo Jam at Gateway Christian Academy in Bimini, Bahamas. The Falcons dropped to 2-4 on the season.
A slow start saw the Falcons trail by as many as 22 points in the second half to the Dukes (5-0). But a furious late-game rally saw Air Force chisel the big deficit down to five points.
The Falcons shot just 28 percent from the field in the first half, including 0 for 8 from three point range. Duquesne was able to take a 39-22 lead into the half aided by a 20-6 scoring advantage in the paint and 10-0 advantage on second chance points.
Duquesne scored the first five points of the second half to go up 44-22. The Falcons then mounted their come back, aided by 5 of 9 shooting from three point range to get back into the game. Down 22 with 14:47 to play, the Falcons out-scored the Dukes 35-19 the rest of the game. The big deficit was too big an obstacle to overcome, however.
Lavelle Scottie led three Falcons in double figures with 19 points. Scottie scored 15 second-half points and finished the game with a team-high seven rebounds. AJ Walker and Ryan Swan scored 13 points each with Walker adding five rebounds. Caleb Morris added a pair of threes and Sid Tomes scored five points, all at the free throw line.
Marcus Weathers led four Dukes in doubles figures with 12 points, adding eight rebounds. Duquesne finished the game with a 38-18 advantage in points in the paint and led 12-1 in second chance points.
Air Force returns to action at the Junkanoo Jam Sunday, taking on Indiana State. Tip time is 4 pm ET.
