
Falcons fall to No. 11 UCSD, in WWPA Championships

Air Force will play Fresno Pacific in seventh-place game on Saturday
RIVERSIDE, Calif. -- UC San Diego, ranked 11th in the nation, erased an early Falcon lead for a 14-10 win over Air Force in the first round of the Western Water Polo Association Tournament, Friday, Nov. 22, in Riverside, Calif.
Air Force, 10-17 overall, took an early 2-0 lead as Sam Fuller and Mike Miller scored in the first 1:15 of the game. UCSD scored the next four goals for a 4-2 lead. Campbell Harris scored late in the first quarter as the Falcons trailed by one entering the second. Fuller, Harris and Corey Tanis all scored in the second quarter, but the Falcons trailed 10-6 at the half.
Reagan Pittman and Tanis traded goals with the Titans early in the third quarter. Late in the third, Miller scored on a five-meter shot at 2:57 and then Henry Yavitt scored on the power play as the Falcons trailed 13-10 entering the fourth. UCSD's Skyler Munatones scored the only goal of the fourth quarter as the Titans won, 14-10.
UCSD, the second seed in the tournament, advances to the semifinals on Saturday, Nov. 23. The Falcons, the seventh seed, will play in the seventh-place place game against eight-seeded Fresno Pacific on Saturday, Nov. 23, at 8:30 am PT in Riverside, Calif.
