Air Force dropped its final road contest of 2019 to Cal State Fullerton, 79-70, Saturday afternoon (Dec. 21) in Titan Gym. The Falcons, who scored a season-high 70 points, dropped to 2-10 while the Titans improved to 7-5.
Air Force was led by Kaelin Immel and Briana Autrey-Thompson who both shot over 60-percent while scoring individual season-highs of 26 and 21 points, respectively. The performance marked the first time Air Force has had two 20-point scorers in a single game this season. Immel, who picked off a game-high and season-best five steals, now has three 20-point performances, 10 double-figure games, and averages 15.2 points this season. Autrey-Thompson rounded out her stat line with three steals and a pair of assists and rebounds.
Emily Conroe led the Falcons in rebounding with seven while teammates Haley Jones and Allyah Marlett snatched four and three boards, respectively. Marlett, who leads all Air Force freshmen in scoring this season, scored six points while Jones tallied five.
20-20 VISION
For the first time this season, Air Force had had two 20-point scorers in a single game as Kaelin Immel and Briana Autrey-Thompson scored individual season-highs of 26 and 21 points, respectively, in the last game. Kaelin Immel has three of the top-four Air Force scoring performances this season, posting a season-high 26 points at Cal State Fullerton, 24 points at Navy and 23 points at Northern Colorado-- all marks were game-highs in their respective meetings. Riley Snyder has registered three 20-point performances in the last five games, highlighted by a career-high 23 points against Long Bach State (Dec. 19). Snyder dropped a pair of game-high 20-point marks against No. 20 Tennessee (Dec. 1) and Wyoming (Dec. 4). Conroe added the squad's sixth 20-point mark as she dropped 22 against Nevada in the MWC road opener.
IMMEL SETS THE STANDARD
Junior co-team captain Kaelin Immel has eight-straight double-figure scoring marks and 10 total on the season. She averages 15.2 PPG this year and is the fifth-leading scorer in the MWC.
Following her 14-point performance at LBSU, Immel became the 16th all-time Falcon to achieve 1,000 career points at Air Force. Immel is now the 16th all-time leading scorer in program history and seventh leading scorer in the Division I era.
SNYDER SCORES
Sophomore forward Riley Snyder was the Falcons' leading scorer for the first five games of the season. Through said five games, she averaged a career-high 14.0 PPG.
Snyder has five double-figure performances in the last six games, three of which were 20-point games. She hit a career-high 14.5 scoring average on Dec. 18, while notching her ninth double-figure scoring mark of the season along with a career-high mark at LBSU. Her game-high scoring performance against the abundantly tall Lady Vols garnered her Air Force Cadet Athlete of the Week honors for the week of Nov.23. She rolled the momentum into the following game against Wyoming where she dropped another 20 in the conference opener. She is currently the seventh leading scorer in the conference.
